Found a solution. Just enter the scenario editor and then leave it. You will be right in the game. =D!

But I hope someone is gonna fix this beacuse it's getting annoying

I had the same problem too. I ended the task, restarted the client, and it worked and let me play around for about 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, the screen turned black, but I could hear music and explorer said the program was running as intended. I went out for a while, came back, and couldn't get past the loading screen again after character selection. I could hear everything though.

This problem is weird because it's random as far as I can tell. I didn't do anything different the time I got it to work.

Last night after about 10 tries I finally got past the loading screen after character selection. People online said they have the same problem sometimes, and they think it's server stress related. If that's the case, then there's no way this game is ready for pay to play. I tried to log on early in the morning (6:30AM EDT) as a test to see if it was server stress related and the first several attempts weren't loading after character selection.

That's pretty much proof right there that something is wrong server side, but it has nothing to do with stress. When you can't log in and play until like 20 tries over one hour there's no way a game is ready for pay to play. Hopefully the devs work on this issue quickly.

Also when I was able to play last night the second time the game didn't black screen on me after 5 minutes. It actually worked perfectly and I didn't change any settings. I don't know whether I should consider that a good sign or a bad sign, lol.

It's sad to hear this is still happening. I tried this game in April of 2007 (second time I tried it) and this was my biggest issue. It's been going on for years now and it seems that none of the devs have taken it seriously. I would like to try again, but I simply won't until this has been confirmed to be fixed.

I tried pretty much everything, including all of the suggestions by users. Since there is such a discrepancy between my previous system and yours (OS, at least), I'm resigned to believe this is a problem with Ryzom, not any hardware or software incompatibility.

If it isn't fixed, and quick, Ryzom in its newest incarnation will fail; you cannot ask people to pay for something they can't play. A pity.

Try what paramore said a couple of posts above. It worked for me.
But it's true, it's annoying :S:S!
