Whoops I see I have to change that sig. :)
5 out of 8 for us - that's pretty normal I'd say. Tho we recruit only in Yrkanis...

I think the yardstick to judge retention by, will be when billing goes live.

We have good retention so far, but I know when billing starts, it will drop significantly.

It would be sad if it really is the case. Why get in a guild and get to know everybody if it's to leave as soon as billing resumes. Of course, if one has no way to afford it at the moment, it can be somehow understandable. But if one joins a guild without any intention of staying right from the beginning... it's somehow unfair to all those guilds. When you recruit someone, you do so with a minimum of hope that the person will stay, otherwise, it's somehow pointless.

Maybe they continue to hope that the new owners will yet change their mind and make it F2P. ;)

Or that the guild turns out to be so cool that it makes them willing to pay after all? :D Though a lot do seem to hold an "I refuse to pay for any MMO, period, no matter how awesome it is" opinion, which I don't understand either...

As for being unable to afford it, is it really possible to be able to afford a computer capable of running Ryzom but not the montly sub itself? Well, I guess Ryzom can be run on pretty old computers by now :p , but when you're talking brand new MMOs it seems a little odd. But maybe prices are just very different elsewhere.

Yeah, that´s a question I´m asking myself frequently.
Many people do seem to be able to buy the latest in Hardware, but nothing to play on it ;) Judging from some things we keep hearing here. *confused*

Anyway, to be honest, I´ll be glad to get rid of some trolls and punks...
That´s what billing will do for me anyway.

Agreed Acri...
The vast majority of the new people I've met are great, and I hope they stay with us and love Atys the way we do.
