The whole world of Ryzom, its environments/seasons/mobs/spells etc.

I'm not inclined to believe that transporting the community to another game would be very successful, I've played other MMO's that had Ryzom players, but I never stuck around, mostly because the games didn't appeal to me.

Erm i may sound so stupid, but im gonna say it ^^

If the community of Ryzom is good and if i m a part of this community, its just because of Ryzom feeds my soul with the world it offers me, with all of the art it has. This is why i am good.

I know it sounds like im a bad person in real life. well i m not a bad person but im not good as much as i want to be, cause real life doesnt feed my soul..I think Atys lets us to be good as much as we want...

I hope i could explain how i m feeling :(

Chizeta, the homin who tries to explain herself with her limited english...

I love Ryzom because it allows me to live life in Atys at my own pace day to day. I can do whatever I like, even if it's to sit and watch the breeze sway the trees. I enjoy having one character who can do it all.....and does!!!

After playing/trying more mmos than i care to remember, i found a "home" in EQ2, the community is rather pathetic but the game is awesome.
Amount of content is overwhelming and its good quality content too.

As for what i love about Ryzom that makes it stand out....its the look and feel of Atys, a real caress for the senses.
Nothing out there even comes close.

Unfortunately I've had way too much time to contemplate these issues. The only other game that felt alive to me was EQ1. I haven't played it for over 3 years but when I think back about the gameplay mechanics it had, I do have a lot of fond memories from my 4 and a half years playing it. Too bad SOE ever got a hold of it and I really hated 3 expansions a year that amounted to about $7.50US extra a month. All those expansions ruined a lot of the earlier content too. Much prefer the classless Ryzom system too vs the class based in EQ1. But name withside EQ1 was pretty much sandbox with some nice huge quests.

Going up the Tower of Frozen Shadow was neat. Loved Grieg's End. Dulak's Harbor had a lot of atmoshere to it.

A lot of 20 hour camps where the "named mob" spawns every 2 hours but only drops the item your after 1 in 10 but that was np for me.

But for the OPs question, EVE or Istaria have reasonable potential and both are stable profitable games with planned game improvements.

Is that the Horizon game? Think I bought that and never played it, is it good?

I went back to eq2 a little before the servers went down, been there off and on for the last 3 to 4 years,i am once again into end game raiding, which i enjoy tremendously, but yet i do miss ryzom. I miss ryzom cause of the ability to tone the difficulty of the game, to my mood, I could seek a challenge any time of the day, or sit back and do something rather relaxing. I cant find that in any other game.

I do have to say i miss the community as well, but only to a point. I can come here or log into MSN and get my fix of the community, it is something that i carry with me where ever i may be. But the community wouldnt be the same for me in another game, the people i have enjoy their company and to play with, most likely wouldnt fit my playing styles. I enjoy the aspect of being alone to much, even when i am grouped with people, i can still remain a sense of being alone.

But with all that said, i will be back the day, that ryzom servers are up and running again, but like genia, wont be around for long, but will always return.

Yes, the name has changed. (for the better IMO)

The crafting is pretty darn good. I didn't like the combat. The environment is not too bad, but dated. No game has digging to compare with Ryzom, sadly.

It's worth a shot - I almost subbed but ended up staying with my guild family elsewhere. The chat is most important for me... ;)

The drop rates... God I hate farming mobs for a piece of leather that has 1/10 chance of dropping for a craft that requires MANY of them... Farming dropped mats in AoC is a real pain in the butt.

In Ryzom, you didn't only have an almost guaranteed chance of getting a drop, but there was also the chance that the mob dropped more than one of what you needed. And also the fact that you could could DIG an actual replacement for those mats is a huuuge plus.

Also, the things you craft can't be bought from the vendor for less than the crafting cost and don't drop from mobs for free (stupid alchemy *grumbles*).

After tasting the transport in AoC, I really, really miss the good old 10k dappers TP tickets. And a decent mekkie mount don't cost a gazillion dapper, you don't have to buy a book to learn how to ride it and you don't have to buy a saddle that is more expensive than the most expensive mount...

The guild inventory is not as tiny as the already too tiny bank of an individual character. If you thought you had storage issue in Ryzom... don't play AoC, you'll end up bald... pulling your hair off. In fact, when it comes to economy and inventory, Ryzom has NOTHING to envy the "next gen" MMO.

Ah... and a major point... no effing gold spammers. I'm sooo glad that Ryzom doesn't have them, you have no idea...
