Komissar, I know that you're interested in the background as well, so I hope you don't take this as an affront, but the ambiguity between characters and players is part of the problem. While the character Lylanea may be 100% right from her POV, it has nothing to do with the player Acridiel. For me, it was not clear from the beginning that the movies are part of the character Lylanea's story, instead of movies about the homin races of Atys by the player Acridiel. Either way I felt the need to clarify what I (the player) had seen, if only to help other players better understand what they are seeing.

Regarding faction PvP, of course that is the way it works on any server, but that's because there's currently no other way it could work. If you want more than casual PvP, you have to have faction PvP. If you want outposts, you have to have faction outposts. Faction currently means religious faction, at least until we have the spires, and maybe even beyond. While I agree on the factual correctness, I (as a player) see it coming from a lack in game mechanics rather than based in (and therefore part of) Fyros tradition. So to live up to their ferocious and often warlike nature, the Fyros (as characters) currently have no choice other than side with the Kami. But that is not out of faith, but a cunning stratagem in outmaneouvering the Karavan.

Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I still feel this is a role-playing game, and not just another third-person shooter. Of course one can play it as such, just "lvl up" and PvP WoW-style, but that means missing out on the real qualities of Ryzom, the background story that sets it apart from the masses.
I think (and hope!) Acridiels movies are being watched far beyond our small community, and thus I feel it's important to be clear about such things. And if I'm only mumbling to myself like an old toothless fyros, what harm can it do ;)

Well said :)

But, why can´t then words said in such Videos, be taken as some of the better values in the depicted races? ;)
Faith, in this regard, isn´t a bad thing. And btw. why should´t someone who first came to Kami-Faith out of spite to the Karavan, become convinced over time ;) It´s all just RP, even if you see it from a PvP pov. (Wich I don´t.)

I think I don't really disagree with you here, it's mostly the presentation that stirred me up - the confusion of player and character roles, if you will. I admit not having paid enough attention to the end titles, where Lylanea "signed" the video. As an in-game prop, if you will, the video is awesome, only I (the player) would have needed more of a hint on its in-character nature in the first place.
Sooo... maybe Lylanea can profit from this "letter to the editor", and I hope to see many more of her - and your - work :)
And, Fyros youngsters, don't take everything you see at face value, especially if it comes from a Matis ;)

And : LOOOOOOOOL :D

Touché ;)

Admittedly, I´ve come to "belive Memory over history", to reuse a famous X-Files quote.
The whole "Lore" vs. InGame experience and RP-History issue is always a catch in such a dynamic environment as a MMORGG.
Things develop along lines that can and were not anticipated by the developers of its history.
Players will always use their own interpretations over those written in stone, so to say.
Canon, is a word better left to the church, but in a dynamic RP environment things always develop differently.

And in a way we´re holdig it here with the original intention of Ryzoms Devs. To create a MMORPG that
over time created itself. Deverloped its own history and views, wich differ from Server to Server, more or less.

The Fyros, strictly Lore speaking, being clever and playing one side aginaist the other, while for themselves being adherents of
military pecking order, may be a nice historical background, but realy, show me 10 players that realy DO play their chars THAT
partucular way. At least on Leanon, I´d know none.
Arispotle may be another case and Aniro too, but well... I don´t quite think so. ;)

Anyway, the Videos themselves of course are not use InGame, but the essays have and will be used by Lylanea.
And maybe someday, someone will tell her another version and she´ll either come to realise her mistake, or think him or her mad ;) :p

Time and RP will tell.

I can't, because there aren't. And there aren't, because there can't be: there is no such thing as a chain of command in the Fyros Empire. There "is" an emperor, but that's about it. There are (next to) no Imperial Decrees, there is no Imperial Army, there are no imperial officers, clerks, or other officials to obey, nor are there any subordinates to order around. At least not within the "player space", and that's part of what sets player characters apart from NPCs - that they stand somewhat outside, above, next to the society as it is depicted in the lore. That's what makes up the characters' background - exactly where in the society outlined in the lore they have their place. But the background as laid out in the lore is still valid: for the masses of NPCs, and as background for the characters to develop upon.
And I'm certain most Fyros characters (of those who actually role-play) would follow the Emperor's orders to the letter, if he ever were to issue any, or willingly and knowingly face the consequences if they don't. That may be the true secret of the Fyros ;)

Damn you Acrid....you made me cry by watching this vid,as a born fullfledged Fyros.
My biggest mistake ever was to wander off to see other worlds than the 1 of Atys.
But i`ve returned home now,you touched my inner(Fyros) soul with this m8,nothing but respect bro...nothing but respect......never knew anyone able to show in a vid what it means to be a Fyros.
