Thanks go to Eriar as well since she was the one giving the initial ips and the omph leading to the idea on how to get the other ips
fyi:
should be same under win/linux
gives you the ip adress of domain
nameserver is optional, if not specified your standard nameserver is asked otherwise the given one
and since whois gives you 2 nameservers for ryzom.com you can do

nslookup chat.ryzom.com NS1.GFSRV.NET
for example
might still not work for all to get the ip that way

Only the file should really be called ...\etc\host

And remember (I mean remember! Stick a post-it to your viewscreen
) that you made changes to the file, because as soon as Ryzom is taken over, the IP addresses are likely to change again, even if it works for the time being.
Oh, and of course there's no need to reboot your Linux box, but I guess you already knew that
