Whatever is written in the EULA, and disregarding the fact that Gameforge France was only a subsidiary of Gameforge Germany, the question remains whether GF Germany could be held responsible for withholding information regarding the threatening bankruptcy of GF France, which must have been known to them months in advance (
verivox "Kersting, Gameforge CEO: As has been planned for some time now, our subsidiary GF France went into receivership yesterday.",
golem "Kersting did not really want to talk about Saga of Ryzom at the Games Convention [in August 2007]. Obviously the topic was a source of embarrassment to him, as it was the first failure in the browser game company's short history.").
Not relaying that information to their paying customers might be seen as an attempt at cheating, or fraud. If there were any justice, it's my opinion that GF Germany as the holding company should be prepared to face – and lose – a lawsuit.
Had that information been public then, I wonder how many subscribers would have renewed their recurring six month subscriptions in August, and even as late as September, instead of shortening them to one-month terms.

Look up Section 17 - they gave notice on October 2nd on the web site about possible cessation of the game so their butt is covered.
GF Germany is a separate entity and can't be sued by those who have issue with GF France. Sure it is embarrassing and all but nothing legally can be done to GF Germany by the customers/creditors of GF France.

No one complains when they don't think there is anything to complain about. So my original post stands. I dislike Gameforge as much as the next person, but handling your money wisely and accepting the risks of investing it in a subscription longer than a month never ceased to be your responsibility.

I love Ryzom, I hate the idea of what is happening at the moment, but when you cant even enjoy the game you love, I cant just sit by and not say how upset I am about the way things are going.
I would so like to keep playing this game, I really would!!!

Tsk, tsk.
How many folks have only one account?
I have been here since Jan 2004 but my main account can't access forums for some reason only known to the admins who never bothered to fix it no matter how many times I asked.
And by the looks of things someone bought Ryzom as subs seem to be restarting. So I guess you don't need your money back now.
