*remembers the good old days*

My many OP's with GoJ, even know they have Jack & Som....
The teams were something like this, Mardock, 3x CG's (for Mardock), and 4x near CG's to keep the CG's and other healers alive).

And of course Jack and Som got a few high level healers dedicated to them as well :)

/signs up to heal Mardock again :P

And healers do the same to their nukers and tanks.... so when they attackers get all excited the healers can run after them :P

My experience has been completely different. :) I'm rarely a fulltime healer at OP battles, but usually end up healing about half the time anyways. And I do receive praise and/or thanks from the people I heal! I don't receive it often, that's true, but people do occasionally tell me "good healing" or "thanks for the healing". By contrast I've never been told "good meleeing" or "thanks for the shooting".

There are in fact several players who I think of as "Great OP Healers". If I myself am healing, these are the first people I look out for and try to make sure they always have enough health and sap to continue casting. I can't experience who the Great Healers on the other side are, just as I can't experience who the Great Nukers/Meleers/Rangers on my side are, but if I'm not healing then I'm always aiming for the enemy healers.

Others may have more bad experiences, but most of the teams I've been in, it's the Melee/Nuker who gets scolded for moving out of healing range! And I've certainly never heard anyone say "Damn healers" or "Heal better" . I do often hear "Need more healers", yes, but that only acknowledges healers are important. :)

I think the only real difference in recognition between healing and all the other skills is that it's mostly your allies who notice if you're a good healer, while it's mostly your enemies who notice if you're a good nuker/meleer/ranger. :p

I really like healing, its more exciting IMO than any of the other skills I have.

I really hate the way its implemented in Ryzom though, granted, compared to any other MMO I have played, visually, the skill rocks...... but..... it is totally unsolo-able, many times I have stood in Void asking if anyone wants a 229 Healer, to no avail, so I go do some melee skills instead :(

I play another MMO as a Healer and its a totally different ball game, the class is eminemently solo-able and is devastating in PvP, either in a group or solo PvP, so I get my healer fix there now :)

I think I had one of those, also when you run away, if the mob chases you and hits you, they take damage, forget the skill though, been a long time.

No it wasn't EQ2 though that I was talking about earlier.

ahhhh ok.... well the Inquistor wasnt a traditional healer.. .the FURY could do better direct heals, but the Inq could do "reactive buffs" - thats what you just described.... the buff worked like... everytime you took damage.. you where healed for Y - where Y was hopefully more then the damage :P
Along with "Group" reactive heals
Also has the same for damage.... you take damage and return X damage

both of those were based on a combination of Z number of hits or W amount of time (which ever happened first)

I love good healers, but theres not many OUTSTANDING ones.

The ones who are good heal their teams great.
The outstanding ones heal everyone around them and their own team as well.

A few that come to mind is: Redslayer, that nutcrack can heal anyone even with his lag. And he does it from the VERY VERY frontline, OR the very back. Capable as few.

Lucenda is amazing, she is a rez'er without equal in OP battles.

Beepe needs a mention too, not many ive seen be that stubborn when it comes to keeping a team up.

karavans have a few great ones too. Neva is a pain in the arse in OP battles, as well as Jackobas and Mardocks standard healers, Sharonie and Thomas should definately be mentioned as well.

But what people dont realise is, the best and most deadly fighters at OP battles, are the TEAMS that have more then just healers, nukers and melee/rangers. Just my 2 cent.

Best healer ive met for PvE though is a share between 2 people.
Saoirse and Biskibis. They can both heal me forever on mobs without even needing a backheal. And thats when i pull 1-2 kinchers on myself solo.

Sun Ce, The Devil of Arispotle.
The Sexiest beast alive.
A living Legend.
Alpha and the Omega
&
King of the Universe
"So in a few moments Sun Ce had disposed of two enemies, one crushed to death and one frightened to death. Thereafter Sun Ce was called the Little Prince.!"
