JEEZUZ!!! 800? I know you were higher level than me, but 800? I guess I would have spent 40 on HS and Skill reset cards for me and pets, but thats it, the game is OK....ugly but ok LOL, wouldn't spend money on it
I know alot of people that have joined so called "free" games, that actually spend more money than they would have in WoW or EQ2.
Last Chaos has a shop with nice but timed content, it disappears after a period of time or the equivalent of cats.
Archlord have a nice range of stuff too. But that game is a fuggy as buck, it launched without even the core concept of Archlord implemened, loads of bugs never addressed, a huge patch to implement the Archlord content and even MORE bugs.
IMO the games are playable without it, but if you depend on it, you're going to wind up mortgaging your cat
But at the end of the day a regular monthly fee game seems like its a more stable investment. devs can extrapolate to a certain extent future earnings and plan accordingly.
I wouldn't pay extra for items like cats/mats, but I would pay a higher monthly fee.

if they allowed to buy the generic raw mats @ Q250 (the ones with 0 in all stats) in stacks of 333 for £0.50
and cats @ Q250 , 999 for £2.00
id buy em (alot of them xD)
would be very fast income for them xD
but also kill the game in the long run...

= buying craft levels. So yes, bad for the game.

If they set it up so the "cash shop" items could be resold by players in game for dappers, so monthly fee payers still had a chance to get them. would provide a dapper sink for sure. But it just widens the wealth gap ultimately, swinging it from those who spent effort to acquire skills and wealth, to those who spent RL cash.
Not keen on the idea .. its the sort of thing that would bring in gold-farmers, and while more people playing is the real solution needed, gold-farmers just arent.
It would just make the game ~attitude~ feel much more exploitive... You dont expect "true love" when you're paying a professional

oh my!. I could see bank balances being utterly drained.
the game would then become a case of who has a bigger wallet. As a poor student i would be unable to keep up with some rich executive who could easily pour in serious money to gain levels and items etc.
i have a big issue with using rl money for buying pixels. i don't mind spending money for a service (use of servers, paying devs salaries etc) but not for 'eProperty'
i'm sure it would be frowned upon if someone payed a 3rd party to level a character. so why would it be acceptable to pay the company owning the game. the end result is the same. you have less money but a more powerful character.
wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong

If it really comes to paying extra money for extra content, I'll probably unsubscribe before the patch is even released. If GameForge was that desperate for development funds, how would the game even survive any longer? At the current rate of content release, every bit of effort would go into such useless items as mentioned and nothing else would come of it besides the death of Ryzom...

There is only one thing I would consider spending more of my money on, it's the same issue I have brought up for a couple years now. A craft respec !
Once upon I time I tried to do everything, I have plans I have not used in years and don't have the patience to do it all again. It has been a big reason I don't play as much as I did previously.
I don't want to buy extra anything... just wipe clean what I spent my SP on and let me choose stuff I can use now that I know better. There have been alot of changes in nearly three years, but I still suffer craft mistakes made at the beginning.
Now that would be a function worth a bit more than keeping a sub going since launch. Anyone around awhile knows that it can be done, we used to stand in a line to get a respec to test certain things...
