Ryzom is a great game, if the new players can avoid being infected by tired old players ennui. Why should someone who hasnt even been in the game 3 months be interested in 'new' content ?

A lot of what i found enjoyable early in the game isnt possible anymore.. the challenge of trekking from Matis to Fyros when the highest level in 3 parties was still under 200, full parties of lowbies levelling...
but new players can still explore and discover new areas for themselves - if the old players let them. Powerlevelling recruits from Silan straight into OP battle troops isnt doing anyone a favour. Its not just cats, either. Providing supreme gear and max XP grinding mob advice, out-of-team healing and affy..

But before all of this, GF need to have a stable and functional game :(

Yes Jimmy but ...

The 2 rules of Marketing:

1- Do NOT start to advertise or try to pull new customers in as long as you are not 100% confident with your product (not that much the case since last patch).

2- Make sure that you do your upmost for your current customer base...

Now, majority of the player base is now high lvl, they can and they DO help new players by providing them gear for free, helping them lvl sometimes (in team or with cats); give them recommendations and advise..
And before they know it the new players are part of the High lvl base....

In that regard, focusing on Silan and lvl 50 missions is, I think, a waste of time: waste of time of the devs to make content which is going to be overgrown by players in a week and a waste of time of the playerbase who will see new quests-missions coming that are completely irrelevant...

But yes, I agree that the game is fully playable and very enjoyable as it is now :)

Hearing You OP:
So while I understand the nature of the rant (had a few in the past few months myself), NOTHING gets done from words alone.

A Possible Plan:
Organize a mass cancellation date with as many disgruntled players as possible. Notify GF of what is going to happen well in advance. If they don't get back to you with tangible results, you know this game is staying as is and/or they have taken customer service lessons from SOE.

Perspective:
Personally, I have come to the realization that this game is what it is and most likely will stay how it is...A VERY good game with tons of potential that possibly will never get tapped because that costs money to do. No company in its right mind would dump money into this game without first knowing if their investment had a chance of yielding even a meager profit. Given the attention span and lack of subtle taste of most gamers (heck, most human beings), I wouldn't bet on subs swelling much in the future without drastic changes to the game.

My Resolution:
I will continue to enjoy the best MMO on the market, in its current form, until someone organizes a player coup d' etat or the game closes down. Actually, I don't have a gripe anymore with this game so keep your revolution...I'll be here until the doors close or a dumbing down patch is released.

See y'all in game ;)

Totaly agree, but i don't have optimistic opinions here, ne experience says that things will get worse and worse from only one reason - gameforge shows it don't care of us and even don't have idea what to do :(

Unless GameForge becomes comparable to EI Interactive or Sony Online Entertainment, we all have reason to be optimistic.

Holy crap, please DONT do this! The finances of the game are on a rocky enough footing as it is. Even when I stopped playing, I kept my sub going.

Ryzoms future needs to be handled with kid gloves, we nearly lost it when Neverax and Jolt left, we were lucky GF took up the reins when they did.

Ryzom still isn't making a profit for them, so cut them a bit of slack, they are, I'm sure, doing what they do. on a pretty limited budget, so it will take time got get loads of new stuff implemented.

Yeah...

its getting on for a YEAR.

if they dont splash out they wont ever make any money from this game. no venture ever goes anywhere without SUFFICIENT outlay. - just how much did gameforge "pay" for ryzom anyways? my guess, very little.. they are coasting off the current subs, taking a bunch of die hard fans for suckers.

Ryzom is mentioned ABSOLUTELY NO-WHERE on any website thats even remotely gameforge related (as far as i could find). Even tho Google shows a link to gameforge.de with a press release.. guess what.. its a 404. go figure.

given the HUGE amount of threads, maybe someone official could have posted something by now??

or does it have to get to the extent of 2K games humongous bodge job of DRM S**** with bioshock before anyone will COMMUNICATE anything from gameforge?

how many posts and threads have been made with regards to gameforges evident suckyness? a fair few. not a single reply from anyone official on this subject.

they dont, and wont, and cant be bothered to reply.

The game is probably makeing money atm. just piggy backing on spare server power from their other games, employ 1 dev + 1 PR employee and thats it. all CSR are free, we all pay (well not me) cos were a bunch of fools with hope, game forge knows it. its free money thats why they bought it imo.

proove me wrong please? pretty please?

I reiterate, in light of your post Xtarsia...do you have any idea how much worse it could be?
