Here's another one:

Find all the waterfalls in Liberty Lake and Dew Drops. Most of them are unique and pretty locales, and can be approached from both top and bottom.

I've explored and re-explored Liberty Lake several times during the past two years, visited the region countless times, and sometimes resided in it, but it was only a few days ago that I realised one can get atop the waterfall near Windermeer (hint). :)

Last night a family member and myself created Dweebz and Roxxor characters and had a fun evening on Silan......Roxxor got owned in PvP by a Newbie ...HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! :D , Of course Dweebz declined the duel on 'religious' beliefs ;) .

edit ....naming policy prevented me creating Dweeb ?? :(

Ive been around a fair while and altho alot of people would consider me a grinder, i spend the majority of my time doing things which dont get me exp :P

Boss hunting and digging supremes takes up the majority of my time, i like having good gear and that can take ALOT of time in ryzom, and i want the good gear for pvping, which happens often enough :P

If your bored get a pick and some dig gear, go to a region you dont know well and try find digging spots, lvl a bit of craft for gear you use or something that can help out others.

Very rarely i find myself bored maybe cos i have so many things on the go, set your self a few targets in regards to lvling, short term and long term.

You will always think of new skills you want to lvl so unless you grind 24/7 you wont get bored of ryzom any time soon.

There is sooo much to do, go sit in FH and just chat to the local, thats hours of random fun in it's self.

Just my experiance and thought of what to do to keep yourself from being bored :)

This is very simple....

If you log in, and aren't having fun, then you should probably find someplace to be where you DO have fun.

Threads like this have come up now and then over the years, and it's always pretty much the same thing. People that, in general, want the game to drive them, instead of them driving the game. When new people arrive in Ryzom, and I am helping them, I generally start out by telling them to forget everything they know about MMORPGs, and look at Ryzom as something different, because it is.

Ryzom is an open world that is what you make of it. I've been in a total of 3 guilds in my time in Ryzom, and I've had good memories from each of them, though I also enjoy my time out of gulids, because I know a few people here and there that I run into, so I never feel alone.

The trick is finding some game that you really enjoy... something that you log in, and more than 95% of the time, have fun before you log out. If you NEED the game to drive you, then a quest-based game is probably the thing for you.

Whatever you choose, good luck, and have fun!

Thanks for all the imput guys, I really do appreciate it!

and, its not that I need the game to fully drive me, but, in the same sense, that if I'm playing a game, I don't want to be fully dependant to make it interesting for myself.

A good mix of both is needed, as I think of it.

I thank you guys again, for your suggestions. I'm also very much surprised about how fun you guys can make this game to be for yourselves! I suppose Ryzom gives a person the tools to have fun, then let's 'em run wild!

Thanks again :)

Hi marlevvll

I have been playing for just over a year now, and I too at the start, once the newness had worn off, found my self feeling a little as you do.

I have to second everything that has been said be for my post.

But just need to say, don't be so quick to dismiss Ryzom. Like I said, I came to a point when I was wondering, what is the aim of the game? what is there to do other than leveling?

You make your own life here, with the help of the people you meet. They become your family, your guild becomes your new home.

One of the most enjoyable few weeks I spent here, was when I came to this 'what is there here for me' stages.

I stopped leveling everything, got on my mount, and with my partner went on a world tour...it was fantastic! I still have not seen all of atys, this was more an A to B tour, stopping off here and there to have a look round, but I know there was so much more to see, corners I didn't turn to explore because my path was taking me a different way. Of course this cost me a good few mil in dappers, as I had to replace my mekki a few times lol, not to mention the death points! But it was so much fun, and the main thing, no grind.

There are story telling events, and some may say pft, but I can assure you, if you went along to one of them, they are very well done, and quite moving.

My old guild had a 'fight night' just guildies messing around and having a laugh.

Sit in Zora in the summer when the trees are in blossom and watch the sun set...its an awsome sight!

And whats that place called with the maze, my memory is bad *blushes...but I spent a full evening finding my way through that, and flagging every little turn, so if ever a 'younger' player needed help to get through it I could assist them :)

All these things require no grinding...and are so much fun :)

The main thing I would say about Ryzom is, you need to find the 'right' guild or group of peeps to hang out with (not saying your in the wrong guild) but it makes the world of difference to be with like minded people :)

I hope you find your niche in atys and stay with us. Good luck what ever you decide :)

Just thought I'd toss out an option I enjoy.

I like to run a store. Maybe you've heard of it?

If you enjoy crafting anything, spend some time with it. I don't mean grinding- I mean making usable items. Come up with some specialized recipes. Put them on the merchant. You don't need to make Q250. You don't need to make supreme. I opened my shop officially with plenty of business at Q200, but was taking orders long before that. I still don't sell supreme (armor.) Making crafts for use takes 99% of the grind out of it. Lovely way to log in and spend some time on something fun.
