well, im downloading it now...

I used to play World of Warcraft. Its lots of fun.
but the lack of servers geogrpahically located in australia meant my ping times were mostly 400+ .
you could imagine i died most of the time due not *actuallly* being behind my target.

I had two toons on the lightninghoof realm....
a lvl62 undead sub/assasin rogue and a lvl55 undead affliction/destruction warlock.

I had only just acquired the shadowstep talent with the rogue. sigh. so much fun that talent. But now the ping times have risent 700+....extremely unplayable. to say the least.

So now i am downloading this little gem, and i have some questions.

first, things i loved about WoW.
+ Lua Modification System (total UI modification)
+ wsad + mouse simultanous control, this made it really fun for me, as in the other WoW clones if seen lack the controls present in WoW.
+ macros, hotkeys
+ Mobs aggroed via radius(based on class & lvl)
+ Items and actions/spells had detailed stats.
+ items/weapons/gear look interesting.

things i downright wanted to &%#$ the devs for
+ no AU servers
+ TBC (should have been there from the start)
+ cant customise armour or weapons.
+ not implementing more hardware to cope with 8 billion users.
+ ignore list hold only 100 entries.

so my questions are...whats different. i mean exactly, down to the letter.

You asked for it...

They would have a hard time finding those eight billion users to use their hardware. Estimates are still below 7E9 (or seven billion) human beings on the entire planet ;)

Didn't you know most people who play WoW are from the moon?

Are the devs still working on improving the game?
not much. ryzom is a game thats basically settled patch wise, best bet is on improving the community and how it works.

Any comments?
dynamic world just refers to when mats are in season , how animals migrate etc. that and outposts / politics which are the biggest factor in the dynamic world.

better focus imho is just playing with friends. then decide where you want to go from there.

No

+ wsad + mouse simultanous control, this made it really fun for me, as in the other WoW clones if seen lack the controls present in WoW.
Yes (be aware that Ryzom is not a WoW clone, being totally different and developed in 2003)

+ macros, hotkeys
Yes

+ Mobs aggroed via radius(based on class & lvl)
via radius yes, not based on any level, carnivores will just try to eat you, regardless of your or their level.

+ Items and actions/spells had detailed stats.
Yes. More: Actions/spells are fully customizable by you.

+ items/weapons/gear look interesting.
Yes, and they are totally player made (with few, but not needed, exceptions)

+ no AU servers
There is only one International server, english language, based in Germany. More: the game is a single instance.

+ TBC (should have been there from the start)
Hopefully, Ryzom will never get that update.

+ cant customise armour or weapons.
Can't customize

+ not implementing more hardware to cope with 8 billion users.
Harry Potter sold a lot of books around the world, this fact didn't turned it a masterpiece. The actual hardware works pretty fine actually.

+ ignore list hold only 100 entries.
In Ryzom you will go ignoring very few people, if not at all.

Said that, Ryzom is a sandbox game, totally different from WoW, and it is *hard* to play. If you find your way, you will discover something that can give you some great fun for a very long time, if you like the challenge.

Many aspects of Ryzom are completely different from WOW.

Prospecting and digging resources is a full time game in itself.....when you think you have it under control the season, time of day, weather changes.....and you realise that these effect the prospecting and digging :D

Outpost PVP...fully optional, but owning an OP gives you and your guild access to some very nice 'products' ;)

Finding your away around is similar to WOW....you have to visit a location before you get 'instant' acces to return there using a teleport point...not as nice as flying griffons or dwarf trains....but the feature is there :)

No character classes....just skills you concentrate in to give you your speciality 'class'....But a LOT of variety is open using the STANZA system

Lots to learn and Lots to do......and here folk insist in giving you dappers (money)...not begging for gold every time you see a new player :D

Welcome to Ryzom

I'm pretty sure there'll be some new stuff in the next few months.

Have you got a private chat with some dev? :)

If so, please, let us know what's going on... and explain better the term 'few'? :p

Of course there will be. Only "a few month" is a very flexible term and can mean anything from 2 months to a year... *sigh*

Anyway, Keatemi, we´ll keep up hope beyond hope.
We must be either in love or pretty nuts to do it, but we´ll do it anyway ;) :p

Welcome to Ryzom
Yeah, a strangely reversed situation from the usual modus operandi, isn´t it? :D

Old Player: "Oh, hi! You´re new around here, welcome! Here let me give you some million dappers to buy nice things with."

Newbe: "Why thanks for the nice welcome, but I don´t want your money."

Old Player: "Hey, no Problem. I´ve got plenty to spare, here take it."

Newbe: "No thanks, I´d like to earn my own money."

Old Player: "Man, I´ve got enough. Take it allready."

Newbe: "No, sorry.Thank you!"

Old Player: "STFU N00b, take my Money, or I´ll write a complaint!!""

Newbe: "Hey, I realy don´t need it and I don´t want it. Okay? I can write Complaints too, y´know?"

Old Player: "Okay, sorry... but... Please, take my money... I´ve got so much of it, I don´t know what to do with it anymore.... Please help me, I´m drowning here..."

(This is just a parody, most if it is fictional and does NOT occur inGame)

CU
Acridiel :D ;)

No, but I'm closely following the differences for every patch.
