Now how could I possibly do that being neutral ourselves :) . Tho many nuetral guilds have chosen a faction just to satisfy game mechanics and ignore the whole jihad thing.

The idea was to put in place something that would promot cooperation between factions rather than comflict....so each participation by "one side" had to be balanced by the other. Two neutral guilds would satisfy that requirement....but my thought is, they gotta be able to get there and TP's to PR are the only reasonable way outside the few ones that lie near portals.

So my thought is, to satisfy the "why whould those who not willing to fight for a faction" argument that ineveitably arises, that for a truly neutral (via game mechanics) to be eligible for such and effort, the guild would have to complete a kami or kara rite for "sponsorship". This would get them a TP into PR as well right to the OP.

Oh yeah....OP's owners get TP to their OP.....not buyable ones but earnable ones. Do a kami mission do a kara mission, get a TP.

I didn't think you had, just thought it made a good example of how everyone loves escorting caravans. ;)

And yes, understood you meant mektoubs pulling carts, but it doesn't really change the idea. Just adds some eye-candy and gives a reason for the mektoubs to go slower.

I agree it'd be nice to have some PR outposts active.

Yes, neutrals got no TP to PR and personally i don't agree with this behaviour, it satisfy the lore but not the players... Maybe your idea of doing something (a rite) for kami or kara to get tp to owned OP sounds nice, it's not unusual in other games having some disadvantage being neutral (don't give examples to avoid naming other mmo, but there is one, old and well known mmo where neutrals have less xp-multipliers, that means they level slower!!), but nothing as i know involves the movement in the world.
Need more thinking about this and more from other players, as this involves the lore, and seems most of the players are very sensible to a coherence with the lore.

Well the cooperative idea from jared could work considering neutrals too, but would be interesting to see how a kami guild and Kara guild could stay together in PR and do wars in surface..... Maybe a kami+neutral or kara+neutral? or, more simple 2 guilds, regardless of their faction (and i already see the 2 alliances regroup themselves so we never see a kami+kara allegiance in PR :rolleyes :) ? I think this is too complicated.

Materials for social clothing could be a good choice as it doesn't change the game balance. It would require at least one master crafting to do, so more reason to reach a master.

PS: about the TP to OP for neutrals(only?), many cons are coming in my mind that i cant put all in the topic. It cannot be done in a simple way, due to many factors: respawns, TP'ing in a declared OP and more.... don't think this can be a solution.

Firstly.. PR stuff is an order of magnitude harder for real neutrals than for factioned players.. and players who are still neutral despite all the crap they have to put up with are some of the most dedicated players on Ryzom.
we dont need more stuff that discriminates against neutrals. :p

Secondly.. As far as I am aware the goo hasnt reached the Prime Roots, and if it did we could assume Atys was in serious trouble - the difference between an infection being local or systemic :(

I like the idea of the caravans, one of the earliest pre-release videos I have of ryzom is a large group of people and packers just travelling.
Not keen on it being in PR, dont agree with using "goo" as the concept, but caravans are good :)

The Kami would be totally against homins using goo for any purpose
-If Atys is a living planet, the Goo can be thought of as antibodies to fight off an infestation of parasitic Kami - which isnt the story they will tell you of course :D . this explains why they need homin dupes to deal with it, as it is specifically targetted at Kami. Like an extreme fever or severe allergic reaction, Atys's defences run the risk of harming their originator, so as homins who care for our planet, it is our duty to moderate the effects of the goo whilst trying to remove the cause :D

The goo part can be easily replaced with some kitin mats, similar to the kitin larvae already existant in the PR. It depends on their spwan rate if they would or would not disbalance the game.

Now to bring stuff from an OP to the GH while extremely exciting can be tiresome if it has to be repeated too often and regularly. But if the mat is truly rare the disbalance is minimal and the excitement to lead the caravan can be kept fresh for a long time.

Interesting suggestion overall.

I strongly feel that the next major development area should be racial. I'd like to see 'temple like' events for each race on a permanent basis. Mats used to open up bonuses or new techs and new buildings, eventually leading to the creation of national expansion and new settlements. Foraged and quartered mats should both be used...giving guards a bit more reason to protect the diggers.

There should be a Kami and a Karavan collector for each race as Homins would need the ability to port to these new zones or utilize the advanced tech for building. Each faction collector would represent a separate project. Here a nonfactioned player could earn some benefits and rewards for work done.

We homins are very similar to the pacific islanders in wwii, just add a bunch of mutant bugs trying to wipe em out. The point I am trying to make is that we are in the stick age and to survive against the Kitin we have to have their help.

If I am not mistaken, that is one of the 2 races (race variations) that have not been yet / are to be implemented.
Wandering Fyros I think or something like that, they have elephant like mektoubs carrying their houses

I would love to see caravans to be a common sight on Atys. If it was up to me I'd remove all TPs to force people to travel the "natural" way. But something tells me it wouldn't make the game better, it would be annoying to most people.

There has been many events and roleplaying scenarios about trekking mektoubs from place to place, I remember something about cheering up a depressed mektoub by taking him to his mom. Escort missions aren't part of Ryzom's gameplay "palette", except maybe in the Ring.

Ryzom's gameplay is quite minimalist, looking from the outside, but every aspect of it goes rather deep. A friend of mine still claims "but Ryzom have only 4 skills". In one aspect he's not all wrong and I would love to see the game branch out in different (more or less whimsical) ways, just to add diversity. Not everyone likes being a crafter or a Kara/Kami warrior.

I wouldn't mind seeing mektoub breeding and selling as a semi profession. Maybe a mek breeder need to caravan his mektoub herd from ecosystem to ecosystem to keep the quality up? It would be fun to see.

"- Fresh mektoubs, straight from the lakelands! Come and buy!"

Just an idea, sorry for going off topic. And thanks Sidusar for reminding me about the event :)

On a side note:
Escorting mektoub caravans transporting dangerous cargo? Reminds me of the most [thread=22022]elaborate player-made event[/thread] I've seen in Ryzom. :D
Thank you for the compliment, made me think about something, but I'll post about that is another thread!
