I realize some people are characters that aren't listed in my poll. With only 10 possible choices, I couldn't make every combination of 2 skill sets. I should have made a "combination of 2 other than listed above" choice in this poll as well. Maybe next time.

Perhaps someone can make a more precise poll [I can't seem to figure out how to create a poll]? Maybe a 2 parter to include all 16 possible configurations?
ie Fighter>mage>harvest>craft
Fighter>Harvest>Mage>Craft
...
or ask if there is any profession NOT ever (or rarely ever) used
or perhaps even if there is a profession 10+ levels above/below the rest...
Not sure how to poll that to get reasonably valid results

At the time of my post I was correct, but at this time...you are correct. I still see MANY more pure adventurers than pure crafter/foragers in game. Forums tend to NOT be representative of the whole games community.
ilsefa wrote:Lyrah, I have to disagree with you about the validity of the poll in this respect.
14 people checked all 4, larger than all other categories by far except people who checked 3 of 4. You have no way of knowing which lines for the 21 (at this time) people who checked either 3 or 4 are primarily crafters or harvesters. This isn't trivial since all adventure only folks add up to 6.
perhaps a more valid look at the question to show what you want to know would be to ask which is your single highest line, melee, mage, harvester, crafter.

I second the warrior/ crafter choice. I usually take one offensive magic just to lure a aggro mob out of a crowd.

I don't want to go off on a rant here but:
Being Pure Fighter? easy. you just go kill and not worry about anything but fight stuff. -I like Swords. I like shiny things. Swords are shiny so they are the best!
Being Pure Mage? not as easy as pure fighter. Big nasty monster want to hurt you and they can. Solo you have to use strategy to live. Healers, well they have to group to get xp from healing. -fighterdoken!
Being Fighter/Mage? easier than pure mage. You can fight to up your hp which will let you live longer while you do your mage things. Versatile in battle. -I took a variety of low impact flaws to add to my character point pool, thus I maximize my powers and minimize my disadvantages.
Being Pure Harvester? You are going to die... a lot... Not being able to defend yourself from big nasty monsters like a fighter or mage possibly could. Spending precious skill points to raise you health so you can live through one or many explosions will limit your potential in harvesting. -Dig Dig Dig Dead
Being Pure Crafter? How are you going to get materials? You'll always be short on supplies and you'll have to charge more just to make a profit from the materials you buy. If you only craft, what are you going to do while your harvesters are out dying to provide you with materials? -Click Click Click Logout
Being Crafter/Harvester? You're still gonna die... but atleast you have something to do when you need more materials. -Dig Dig Dig Dead... Click Click Click "WTS..."
-This is just my opinion, I may be wrong.

Syneris.....that was an amazingly useless post. The poll wasn't about why you like or dislike any character type, it was about which type your character is.
Oh...and in response to your ranting. You are correct, many types of characters have large weaknesses. But that is exactly why it is a mmorpg. Teamwork is needed to succeed. Only a crafter...team up with a harvester and a fighter. That way you can all be better in your individual talents while still benifiting from the other players.
I guess some people don't like teaming and having weaknesses, but for those of us that do, specializing in one or two skill sets is a very reasonable option.

Yuppers I love the ability to do whatever I like so currently:
Melee Fight 45
Ranged Fight 21 (waiting for ranged luv)
Offensive Magic 40
Defensive Magic 43
Heavy Armor Craft 61
Light Armor Craft 52
Medium Armor Craft 57
1 Handed Melee Craft 55
2 Handed Melee Craft 59
Jewlery Craft 51
Ranged Craft 51
Forage 58
Its great that any time I get bored doing one thing, I just switch to another activity and my character is *perfectly* suited to it. No gimpery anywhere.
I realize I eventually will have to specialize more, but I think it is feasible to level most everything sub 100.

I am a mix of crafter - harvester - fighter. But I want to stay with crafting as much as possible. Joined a guild to help. They get the mats and I make the items they need to go out and explore some more.
