tigrus - Only compared drain with double becuase of "Spam a double nuke over and over."
jamela - I thought it was about the uselessness of drain spells in battle.
I'm using drain spells because of the following reasons:
1. The healer of my team will only have to keep my sap up.
2. It's harder to keep a DoT:ed player alive than a nuked imo.
3. I can wear heavier armor without losing too much hp/sap.
4. It can almost go on forever with concentrate.

5. I don't like to spam spells.

Would you ever you a DoT in pvp?? on a purple boss?? Most likely no... usually you see doubles being spamed cause of the great difference in DPS. Also with amps that 9k damage becomes about 18k and that 19.2sec casting time becomes 9.6 sec casting time....

Incorrect, it will take you more time to kill whatever target your hitting, allowing it more time to hit YOU, so unless you have a OA to root, your wrong.
2. It's harder to keep a DoT:ed player alive than a nuked imo.

Use more sap in the drain, but HP is correct.

Concentrate has NOTHING to do with Links, so thats ****.
5. I don't like to spam spells.
But a purple boss or me would resist your DoT all the time,so you would have to spam it.

concentrate does effect the lengh of links in DoT, but go on forever i doubt, maybe against a lvl 120 boss ^^
DoT isnt useless but FAR from useful

you cant spam DoT, because then you dont link and if you dont have link (at least 4 sec if i may add), you dont do any damage.
@kyesmith: iirc, link can break at 3.9 sec and that means no damage.
.. and there is one use for dot's (if you can link it reliably that is)... use it on vorax when you duo and you have low fear resist. if you do get feared, link stays up (but beware, when link is up, you cant dodge)
to devs: make DoT's stack. 2+ DoT links for example (maybe add max link time if sap drain is not enough)... and plz make DoT damage based how long link was up and not every 4 sec as it is now. as i said, iirc 3.9sec link means no damage.

With #1 I meant that the healer can use more of it's sap to keep the tank or other important jobs alive.
#3 Took about 75% (~250 sap) every 4 sec instead of 50% (~165 sap) with HA.

The timer is cumulative on dots.. so if the link broke on 3.9 sec your next link with that mob will do damage...

I meant spam it because the first, second,3rd, 4th cast MIGHT not make a link you know? It may take several casts to make a link with a 250 person in good jewels... meaning, youll have to "spam" it.

did CSR tell you that ?.... they tell you anything to get rid of you (j/k
personal experience with DoT's (duel, plants, mobs) say that 3.9sec means no damage, only wasted sap. check log file. linked and resisted messages can be 4 sec apart, but next time you link, damage happens in 4 sec from that link. (8+ sec w/o damage [but you lost sap in that time], yay, dot is uber, every kami should use it

No a csr didnt tell me that. It what i noticed after a hour of testing it against a player to see if i could come up with a good use for a dot in pvp... The whole reason i created this thread was to bring light to the fact that amps doesnt effect the damage of dots. If it did dots would have a very pratcial use and would give elementalists more options. Just one quick question would you be using normal nukes or dots if normal nukes damage wasnt effected by amps but dots were?
Also please dont bring up factions where there is no need for it, unless you are trying to start a flame... which is a offense on these forums right?
