Until they fix the "stuck in trainer room" bug, you might see another race sooner than you think. Sometimes you get stuck in a training room, unable to exit. Nevrax says just to logout and login. Occaisionally you'll be transported from beginner island to mainland, island to island or just to the next town.
Too bad we can't see facial expressions when a tryker pops out in Matis land.

Re: Visiting other areas
I for one don't think it is such a great idea to limit it as badly as it is.
That is 1/4th the content you don't get to see because of the limitation unless you roll the other race and play it thoroughly. By the time you can ever get through even in a group, you will have outleveled much of what is fun to do in other lands.
If you read the timeline, you'll notice that decades have gone by and the various races have been in communication. Look at the tribes in each civilization and you'll see many different races. Did they all supposedly run the gauntlet of death to interact? It doesn't make sense and isn't described in what storyline we have.
While I don't think it should be some simply magical teleport, I do think intercontinental travel should be possible for those who really want it.. even solo. Plus as a way of leveling the advantage those who did it in the early days had. Something as simple as a teleporter costing 1 million dappers for a one way trip in my opinion would be very useful as a money sink and as a means of making intercontinental travel possible for those who really want it.

From the Ryzom main page Release notes:
". Some fixes in The Prime Roots mobs lay out. "
Hopefully this will reduce some of the difficulty in crossing. Hadn't tried it myself so didn't know how difficult it is.

Tryker land is the hardest one to get into and out of. It's nigh-impossible, though I've been studying the passages in game.
On your map, up near the top right of the central area, there is a label called 'Lagoons of Loria'. There's a portal there that will take you to the lagoons, and from there you can sneak around the level 200+ mobs to try to get to other lands. I've only been about halfway through the southern path, but that's just me. That's one, and the only one I really know. There's another way called the Bounty Beaches, but I have not been there so I can't really talk about it.

Actually, I believe they made it MORE difficult to enter/survive in Prime Roots. There is discussion on another thread here about a harvester that stayed there after the latest patch and built up a 1.5M DP...
Re: Visiting other areas
It is more difficult. A lot of my high level guildmates really want to travel to other lands, and I would love to myself.
Things are just messed up in the game post level 100. But we're stuck doing the same low level lands because we can't get anywhere. It will get repetitive very fast for those of us stuck here.

I don't understand how you are trapped or unable to see other lands? Get a solid group (or 2) of guildmates and carefully bust your way through.
There is no way I could have gotten the spawn points and tickets I have without the help of guildmates. The wilderness and the prime roots are not a place to be wandering solo (unless you like DP) and the latest series of changes reinforce this.
The difficulty of the outer environments adds a true sense of danger to those areas in my opinion.
