I wish it were that simple.. This morning I tried to log on, waited at the constipated "connecting" screen for a while, got bored, went and took a shower, came back and, still "Connecting". I know it's not my connection because I can connect to any other the other games I've been trying out.
Come to think of it, I might just be better off playing them instead.

oliverh72: If your game stalls on the last square, it can probably be because it timed out. Some reasons for this would be that your graphics settings are turned too high (not just textures), especially your farclip settings. Also make sure the network ports are being opened, your router havng correct port triggering enabled, and restart your PC and router if you rarely bring them down.

Tydamus,
Thanks for your help. I think I am done trying to get Ryzom to work, which is a real pity. I have tried every suggestion on these boards, and then some. I have ports opened in every app I can think of - windows firewall, Avast, my router. I have killed every process but windows ones and my mouse drivers (including all Avast processes). There is another thread on here that details everything else I've tried, including buying a new power supply. I tried rebooting my router as well as lowering all my settings. The trouble is, the game will load... occasionally. So when it loads, I try to exit then simply try again. Almost without fail (it did load twice in a row last night) it doesn't load the next attempt, with all settings competely untouched.
I am literally without any more ideas. I have been as methodical about this as I possibly can be - I am not changing 4 things on every attempt - just one at a time, to hopefully see if that one alteration fixes it. I have yet to have Ryzom fully load more than 50% of the time, regardless of the settings I try. I think my computer about doubles the recommended specs and runs every other game, app, or piece of software I throw at it without fail. This is why I started the other 'GF support' thread; I think there is a problem with how Ryzom initializes its gfx/sound/networking on load. I don't have anything to base this on except that there are many threads where people have it lock up in the exact same spot. I'd be the first to say it's my computer and eat crow if someone could help with this resolution.
