The GF recomended fix of editing the client.cfg file to add the line:

BackgroundDownloader = 0;

woulkd appear to mimick wjhat I was trying to do from the downloader window drop down list....problem is the drop down edit isn't saved. I think the config file edit essentially does the same thing.,....sets it at a lower priority. I don't even see the downloade window anymore with the 1 setting so the window can't "steal" anything.

That cfg edit just tells the client not to use the "Background downloader" (ie the one that comes in a window) and use the old one that is built into the client instead. Glad it fixed things for you :)

Would seem that setting it to d/l in background would do the same thing as evidenced by the click on the ryzom screen work around. Seems a better approach, if they like the new downloader, woulda been to provide a way to make the "drop down" options stick ?
