I agree there needs to be a general chat channel but I also think that a Trade channel would just be a spam fest! ;)

how about instead of a trade channel, you have a bulletin board in every city, where people can post ads for trades and teams, and it can more easily be moderated.

Some players do not have guild chat or faction chat channels...

I like to answer question for new players but i would also love to have a separated channel for chatting...
could be teaming, a bit of RP, or just some chat while digging..

From some pm with one of the CSR, we did agree that this would be beneficial to both new, old players and CSR:
- new players have a Q&A channel that is not spoiled by general chats
- older players or less new player who are just arriving on mainlands can look for team or crafter without been off topic
- CSR can police both channels and this would probably be much easier for them: 90% of the policing they do atm is about off topic, not about spamming: i think players have proved they can police themselves most of the time.(i said player, not me :) ).

I heard rumours that GF was completely against it and that this was buried deep in the archives: i think it is a mistake..
It is good to help new player on Silan but player who just reached mainlands and have difficulty finding team, guild, or whatever would benefit from it too: could reduce the number of cancelled subscription after a month...

Now what really surprise me is the number of "oldies" who are against it: you can close any channel you want so why refuse something that could be beneficial to other and which you can choose not to have??????????????????

Most excellent thought, but I'd suggest that this only be for trade items and a seperate channel for general chat for teaming! ;) Make it an NPC or actual board!

Think I'd prefer a board you can read from like the temples or something.

Preferably in a publically-available place inside a capital city, like at a stable (especially since people congregate there anyway). Having the boards at temples would be problematic for some, i.e. a Fyros who chose to go to Yrkanis would be KoS at the Karavan temple. There are unfinished opposite-faction temples, of course, but really any temple finished or unfinished is too far out of the way.

Oh yeah, didn't actually mean the temples as a site, just the same sort of system as they use. Stables sounds a good idea. =)
