I'm willing to bet this has something to do with a bug report i submitted.

if it is, then it's to do with the fauna spawner in the ring.

Fine. Now we know 2 things - the installer is having trouble patching, and some mainland/ring split would surely help.

And the winner would be... Blaah.

This "patching" is due to the time change. In many countries including France, the time now used is summer time (GMT+2 in Paris). Twice per year your Ryzom files may be rechecked for this reason, as Windows changes the files timestamp.

So why it downloaded the ring files?

one of those files didnt pass the test and some parts were redownloaded. it does not mean they were corrupted tho. patching just got confused (Ryzom is ~7GiB, for fast check what to patch, you need to take shortcuts and those are never 100% reliable). if it does not happen on every login, then there is nothing to worry about.

Yep Freeeax, as Blaah said, if you had to patch something, it's because the data check detected that you had corrupted file(s). To be short... Your Ryzom was dirty but is now clean again, that's good news isn't it? :D
