Okay, there are no armor mats that give a bonus to parry. You can make armor entirely out of mats with a very high bonus to dodge, however. You'll see many crafters selling "dodge armor". You see no crafters selling "parry armor". The dodge armor is typicallly made from selected mats with the highest dodge bonuses, resulting in a dodge rating per piece of 99% or thereabouts.

I would think, then, that the deciding factor between choosing dodge or parry mode should be based on whether you are wearing high-dodge armor or not. If your armor is high-dodge, then you'll probably evade the mob more when in dodge mode.

As for attack after parry or attack after dodge, you can use EITHER of those bricks in an action stanza. By default the trainers "sell" an action that lets you do accurate attack after parry, or increased damage after dodge, but you can easily edit/create your own actions that let you do increased damage after parry or accurate attack after dodge. Or, you can make an action that does BOTH increased damage *and* accurate attack after a dodge or after a parry.

I honestly don't know whether you can easily create higher parry weapons or higher parry armor by design, as a crafter, because NONE of the weapon mats or armor mats have any HIGH stats that seem directly tied to parry. The mat stats that measure as the highest stat on a given weapon mat are all as follows: lightness, sap load, dodge, adversary dodge, damage. Armor mats have: all those except damage, plus special protection versus smash, slash, or pierce damage. No parry anywhere in that list.

Err n00b question here: I've seen the dodge messages come up but I've not seen any messages that indicate a parry so how do you know when you did a parry?

And how do you switch from "dodge mode" to "parry mode"? I've not seen any of these modes?

You are misinformed. There are alot of mats that do have high parry on them. Look harder. You can get enough parry mats together for 99/100 parry just like dodge and yes I have seen people sell parry armor.

If you still can't find it, let me clue you in... quartered mats.

Its in the Action Menu. Its a button that says "Dodge" or "Parry". You can only dodge or parry at any one time, depending on that setting.
