True darq, so maye the solution is to remove all sources out of all towns.

Some guy by the name of Mud was on region chat saying someone was afk over a node he wanted said he blew him up 4 or 5 times cause he kept respawning back to the same spot.

He thought it was funny a couple people did the lol -- I wasn't one of them.

I think they need to change it so that the only people able to affect your source and be blown up is people grouped/teamed with you. I had some guy run up use a care plan on my source. As a result he inadvertently changed the source mode from 0 to 4 and made it run out sooner.

I think part of the different perspective as far as the AFKs goes is coming from the different city layouts.

I was watching my son play in Zora the other day and was surprised to see resource nodes inside town. This is a very basic difference to how thing swork at the Fyros capital.

At Pyr, there are no nodes inside town. This means that you can safely go afk inside town and not worry about someone blowing you up accidentally or otherwise. Conversely, if you are working the "free nodes" that are outside Pyr, there is a realistic chance of someone fleeing to the guards and getting you killed by the creatures chasing them. The low level miners in Zora do not face this hazard.

Those two situations are fundamentally different. It puzzles me why the designers would have made something so basic be different in the capital cities of two races. Of the two arrangements, I think Pyr is the better way to do it.

While I do agree with kisedd that there will always be people that look for and find a way to grief, I think that this is a game mechanic that makes it just too easy for people to grief other players.

I think changing it so that explosions only affect those that are either working on the source or grouped with those working on the source is a reasonable measure. Is it perfectly realistic? No. Does it have to be perfectly realistic? No. I can stand on my teammate's shoetops while hunting and swing my sword to and fro with abandon and not damage him. Is that realistic? Certainly not. But would we enjoy it as much if we couldn't easily fight as a team 'cause we were killing each other?

I think realism is important when it's critical to the gaming experience. But I personally don't think it adds a lot to the gameplay to have my source damage someone that just happens to be running by.

if someone goes afk on a source and dies because of it, that's their problem. If they care not to die, then they wont afk more than once. If someone is running by and gets nailed, they will be more careful in the future.

Personally there's some comedy in having someone running by while ur harvesting and getting nailed by an explosion. There's also that harvester that afks while he's pulling mats. Pops out gas and dies.

Do i condone greifing? No. Would i feel sorry for the guy that died? Yea. However if the person dies from an explosion, it will take then a few minutes to remove their dp. I can really only speak for zora, but if someone doesnt wana die from harvesting, they just gotta stay at the respawn point, or move away from the resource locations.

I personally dont see this a major problem unless someone goes around and does it on purpose. I've seen many many people afk around the resource area in zora and have never seen a single one die.

The problem is that someone *will* go around and do it on purpose. If you've played other MMOGs you'd know this. Griefing is a fact of life, so eliminating the methods to do so is very worth while.

"They won't AFK more than once." I'm guessing you don't have any responsibilities at home where you play, perhaps you have someone come by with a bucket every once in a while to help out? Heh.

Thats a lousy attitude and its different in all the lands. In Tryker Lands you can harvest right at the spawn point and it is possible to kill someone who just respawned.

Resources at spawn points and in cities should be moved. Maybe that is more the problem and the solution than dumbing down the realism.

I also agree that sources which damage mektoub packers should also damage NPCs, and that maybe NPCs should have more self-preservation than sitting in your face (and over the source display) while you're harvesting. I'm more annoyed by Madakams and other large critters blocking my source, than even the dumb people who train on me while harvesting.

I understand there are SOME people who will use it to grief. There are other very valid measures to eliminate this (not going afk on a source for a long time).

Personally, I think the layout of many of the resources need an overhaul and to be redone. There should not be resources at city spawn points or even inside cities.. The resources could also use some better allocation in general IMO.

The resource spawns in Trykerland are outside the cities. However so is the spawn point and the stables... That is perhaps the problem.
