Yeah, theres that and call for a lot more of the game to be linked with the website imo, but that'd be alot of work and is a whole other topic. Perhaps when they fix the plone mess... :p

I am not flaming or being insulting to anyone in this post.

I have been in several MMOs, and I have never seen a MMO where so many people were hostile to all change as in "Saga of Ryzom".

Such players remind me of the Tory MPs in 19th century England that I am reading about currently (in a book on the history of 19th century Europe), who were hostile to ALL change, no matter how beneficial.

Thanks,
Amphiaraus

We are not hostile to all change. If you want to see tons of changes we want, look here: http://forums.ryzom.com/forum/showthread.php?t=21381

Yeah, chill. Its not a bad idea and we don't hate change. Just needs a little adjustment and we're trying to help do that.
I don't wanna pay for a 3D chat client, sorry. :p

Nope not hostile to change here. I just don't see how a trade channel would be beneficial at all, I've played games that have trade channels and they really were just macro spammed. A more useful merchant system would be a better use of dev resources IMHO.

A thing to remember is that not every idea is a great idea, and that dev time is precious for a small company. That is why you will see brutal honesty from the older players when you broach an idea that is only marginally useful in the grand scheme of things. Don't take it personal or as a NOCHANGE EVER attitude from older players, take it as passion for the virtual world we call home.

Oh my god. I haven't ever heard it put so well.

Most of the changes around here are rarely things we ask for... The fact the name is no longer "Saga of" Ryzom any longer is a biggie...

What we want rarely seems to matter around here, only what the bean counters think they can do to get new subs, keeping them is low-ball.

My god! So much sarcasm for other things, and now you are speaking about the dreaming land!

Let the bean counters get new subs, it's the better they can do for this game. Let's see if GF makes money with this and *then* it can becomes a Saga. The beans first, the saga later.

Maybe you think that this game make tons of money. Dappers, maybe, but Euros...

Don't take it personal; I, personally, don't think that a chat channel will make a difference, at least a big difference. This is a game with no-so-people, so the trade system needs to be disconnected (This is, people can put something in sale at 6 a.m. and anyone who connects at 9 p.m. migth be able to buy it).

You have to see how they take my "Degrading mats" idea, or cap only the mark of mats at 500% (Not the items).

I thing they can do is make easy the buy, that is, remove the caps of the merchants. It's annoying have to go to Natae for High Weapong and Armour and then to Avalae for Jewels. It's a bother to commerce. It's a bother, for a kara lvl 100 have to go to Dyron and Thesos to by mats (And be killed by a mob in the road from the tp to the stores).

Ok, let the main city merchants capped at 50, but uncap the rest of merchants, for the flow of commerce.

Even better (But people will not like this, I know) break the commerce barrier between civs, and let that I can buy in Natae something selled in Zora. *that* will boost the commerce.

To DoubleTap Miseryguts, whose stolid pessimism always makes me smile :) :

Well Phelan has been very frank about the urgent need for new subs. Yet the two main development projects that he says Gameforge are working on - a smaller client and a fixed economy - would benefit both old and new subscribers, and a change to the economy is something that we have asked for, if not as loudly as certain other things. You seem also to forget, DT, that Nevrax's last patch included a whole raft of little things that we did ask for, which I very much appreciated. Finally ;) .

To Amphiaraus:

Sorry to say, I also detest just about every suggestion for adding chat channels. The existing trader system is a pretty good one except for the fact that merchants throw away anything that hasn't sold after just one week! So nothing special is ever risked on their stalls.

Many people also seem to think that convenience == good thing. This is not true, and especially not in games, where people want to face challenges because tackling them can be fun. Setting up the right challenges, though, requires a little wisdom on the part of the GamesMasters.

As I pointed out on your other Forum Amphi, where you seemingly ignored it, it´s not that you do make suggestions, it´s that you make suggestions that do not seem to take into account the uniqueness of Ryzom tha many of us wish to keep.
Simply swapping features from other Games will just water down the experience that is Ryzom.
Comming up with new, unique solutions for these problems is what counts and what is most apprecianted. :)

Like so many said before, a working merchant system, or a message board that simply could not be spammed are things that wouls serve the same purpose and would fit much better into the Game.

We do welcome change, we do welcome good ideas, but we don´t like to have Ryzom turned into a Clone of some other Game.

So please don´t take it personal when people say that this one or other Idea does not fit like a glove. ;)
