I've little time to play, like you. For me this game is perfect, because you can be the time you wan't, the game are not possesive.

About the boring item... it's hard to say; it depends about what is boring to you.

I discover new things every day. Make new strategis of game, take new point. When I get bored of a task, start another completely different; and also have the very funny events (Not only the officials, but the players events, the unexpected battles, the OP battles, the treks groups you step in and join...

And then, every new region is a world, every new matherial a discovery, every new crafting hability, every level in magic...

But, if you prefer a more driven game, quest after quest, and hate grinding, etc... probably this will get you bored. If you like freedom, come to mainland, you'll no repent.

I'm not fond of either questing or grinding.

Doing missions is alright, but missions and quests are different. As for grinding, it seems like after you kill 1000 whatevers it makes anything seem like work. If I wanted to do something over and over I'd just get a job at some factory and be paid instead of paying for it.

It's a problem I find with every MMO, they always become work at one point or another. WoW became work to me at level 40 or so and I cancelled it despise people saying "when you get to 60 there will be more fun things to do" which was basically instancing over and over for eq.

I like the game and how you can alter the skills, but I usually suffer from massive lag because of my stupid ISP (unless I play past midnight, which I don't want to I need my sleep) and I don't usually have time to play =/

I will keep it on hold for now.

Here the good point is that you can do that funny things even at low levels, with your guildies or with the good people you find somewhere. Someday I was harvesting and "hear" a lot of people nearby. I asked "What's happening?, there are a lot of people here", and Riveit invites me to join a trek to Nexus, being that quite fun. Usually most of people, independant of faction or guild, will take you to the fun in this game, regardless of your level.

And yes, there are a lot of grinding, but is the funniest grinding I've ever seen. You have a lot of options, and always are changing options, testing tric to get one more material or one more stat in a craft, or kill faster some mobs... I never grow bored, and I'm not a mand for grinding after this...

Alot of new players are given the wrong impression about the mainland versus Silan. Silan is quest driven inorder to learn the aspects of the gameplay. The mainland is open-ended, meaning you do what ya want, when and if you want.
But, like any and every MMO you have to work inorder to gain skills that will aid you in exploring and enjoying all the mainland has to offer. Does it involve grinding? Yes, but is can be a team/guild effort so its alot more enjoyable and alot less ho-hum. No game is going to simply heap skills on you without some effort from the players and with the wealth of skills available on Ryzom theres alot to do
