Another possible suggestion to this issue, if it is considered a valuable addition (being able to transfer items to players not online - I'm still unsure if this is good - ok for situations like a crafter handing over an item, but it favors hoarding and storage) would be adding things like "chests", e.g. a guild member has a "chest" in the guild hall with his name, all guild members can put items in it and only the owner can remove them, with a limited bulk.

Likewise, there may be a chest outside a player appartment, as if a mail-box (but since houses are shared, one would need to get a list of all players having an apparment in a given tree/house/etc.)

The difference with a mail-based system is that the player still needs to go retrieve the item.

I like that idea Anissa :)

Love this idea, and I'm not sure why I didn't think of it before. ...well I'd thought about it, but not in context with this idea! More like "Gee, I wish I could put things in the guild hall just for specific people and they could pick it up without having to wait for our Guild Leader or one poor High Officer."

tr808 wrote:*sigh* here i goo again, stop comparing this game to every game u played before, it is simply not the same game.
As to this: Don't worry about trying to tell people not to compare it. People always compare a new experience to old experiences, games or otherwise. And why not? If we can think of things we enjoyed about one thing that might make something we are enjoying more now even better...?

Not to mention, it's unrealistic to expect people not to reference their experiences when generating/suggesting ideas.

Still in my opnion it is nice that i really need to meet my LA crafter and really need to make a 'apointment' then pushing shift-L (i dunno just make something up) and retrieving the item from there, imho this sytem is for the lazy people :) And i dont see how this would fit in, i can see that chest thing fit in, if the one has to travel to the chest to put it in.

And i played games with mailsystems, most thing i saw come from it was abuse... i.e. good way to dupe ;)

Hey - yeah! THat chest idea is a great one! I mentioned before how annoying it can be to get a present to someone, especially since RL "time zones" and such can get in the way. But the chest is great - only the chest owner could retrieve the items, which is WAY better than the yucky "put it in the GH and promote everyone to HO" way we have now... especially since 1) there are not enough HO positions available, and 2) there is no way to designate that a particular item is a present. It could be retrieved by an innocent third party who didn't realize it was spoken for.

SO - it gets my vote! Where can i place my order? I'd like to get mine as soon as possible!

1) Items

2) Dappers

3) Landmarks

Such attachments are seen in other MMOs and would be a great convenience in "Saga of Ryzom".

Some restrictions would need to be imposed:

1) No mailing of anything but text messages between mainland and Silan island.

2) Perhaps some limitation on bulk of items to be mailed could be imposed -- and no mailing of Mektoubs either, the Atys PETA might object.

3) Faction might have a role in mail exchanges - perhaps players of high Fame levels for Kami and Karavan could not mail anything but text messages to each other.

Thanks,
Amphiaraus
That type of mail system fosters gold farming, spam adverstisements for currency/items, and selling currency/items for real cash, something MMOs don't want to deal with at all, and something most players, including myself, don't want.

i agree, not a mail system like that, but a chest in the the guild hall is more proper.

I've played other games with item mailing features, and it seems to work well, as long as there's not mailing inbetween servers, which wouldn't happen anyhow. It would fall pretty far down on my list of things i'd like to see added/implemented though, but it'd be a welcome add nonetheless.

Also if it cost a modest dapper amount to mail the items, it would create another much needed money sink, as TP's are about the only one at the moment. Anything that raises the value of the dapper is a good thing, and this would help slightly i'd imagine.
