Happy New Year
To add a bit of perspective, from what I've read and written myself:
Nobody blamed anybody for what happened.
Nobody blamed GF, nobody blamed Jolt.
Nobody expected GF to be in full control yet.
Nobody demanded GF to be. There has been not enough time to yet, and everybody understands that.
The exact same thing would have happened under anybody's control, it might even have been handled worse.
Nobody even really wants to know what happened exactly, but everybody wanted to take a little comfort in just some words from those who should know.
Nobody said GF and/or Jolt have done a bad job at restoring 'our worlds'.
Everybody has been exceptionally patient. Imagine the same thing had happened at Game X or Y....
BUT, there have been voices, mine included, that demanded better communication.
Nevrax have done a terrible job when it comes down to straightforward communication with their players. Even if they have been by far better than most other companies doing MMO business. Their 'open policy' was in effect for a few weeks only until it died silently. The ones who saved our days on a regular basis have always been Jolt (MDO before), the CSR staff. And they did exceptionally well there (and continued to do so when Klients was back online yesterday).
Still, there's no need for GF to inherit all of Nevrax faults. But they need to know. Communicating better is a relatively easy task, although it requires a lot of work as well.
Nobody honestly expected an improvement at that within the time GF took over. But the time was/is right for a little reminder to not accept full inheritance and 'just let it float like it did before'.
Maybe, those who critize those who dare to critize might consider that a bit as well before prescribing chill pills, just maybe.
Remember....those who criticize still care enough to do so.
Let's get some perspective here...

...Well youve missed some of the threads then...
Like the original poster said some people have been giving GF stick, and I personally think its inexcusable. As previously stated, get some perspective.

So you don't call a thread entitled "Merry Failure Gameforge" giving them stick?XoloX wrote:Happy New Year

Or a thread that states "Personally GameForge, you're doing the sh*****t job I have ever seen in a decade"?
What DO you call giving them stick then?! I care enough to give them chance to settle in and make things stable before giving them uncalled for abuse.

I don't blame GF but I think thinks are not going well at all for Ryzom. I just hope GF gets in there and clean up the mess.

Very well put Philu!!! There needs to be some patience here people!! I personally took offense to the "Merry failure" thread! That was inexcusable imho and quite childish way to put that and the fact was it was Nevrax that did the coding trying to do one last good thing as they left! I agree things could have been done a little better (i.e.) put 2 random presents in everyones inventory one for you and one to give to a friend would have been nice just to get us in the spirit, but I don't want to start a debate on that here as it is not the place!! And Happy New Year everyone!!!philu wrote:Well I have to say I have been very disappointed in the community the last few days, even more so than usual. Yet another example of why I don't post here much these days, the forum community just aint what it used to be.
OK so Ryzom has a new owner. They took over just before Christmas, which is never easy (I speak from experience here).
Since then there have been a few problems with the game, many of which are not their fault. The last patch introduced some bugs - not GFs fault, Nevrax wrote that code. There was (rumour has it) a fire in the data centre - not GFs fault.
I imagine that GFs initial plan when taking over so near to Christmas was just to keep things ticking over until the New Year then take proper stock of things and start making changes - it's what I'd do.
I have seen other forum members giving GF stick for the current situation when much of it isn't their fault. You people really do need to get some perspective and take a chill pill.
For a start, GF have IMHO saved this game from falling by the way side. You should be grateful for that and give them chance to take things forward before you start slapping them down.
You also need to remember that you have been spoiled by Nevrax's open policy. This is something GF need to get used to and hopefully take on board. The Ryzom players are used to information being forthcoming. We're used to being told what's going on or what's being planned to some extent too. We're used to being treated like we're mature, even when we don't act it!
We're in a new year now and it's time for a fresh start. So let's stop the mud slinging and flaming. Let's give GF chance to put their new house in order. Let's hope that the teething problems will be few and can be sorted easily. Let's look to the future and hope it's a bright one. Above all, let's be realistic people!
