Hmmm..I could try to argue on majority of main post but cause too drunk for that (D'Ciri) -I won't..just shortly reply- as u could see from my sig, forums stats i'm one of those dinosaurs from ancient pre-cats times and also karavaneer geek ( :D )- all I can say is- u lowbies care only about cats..cats...cats...my answer is - THIS IS PATHETIC EXPLANATION OF UR NOOBISH KNOWLEGDE AND UNDERSTANDING OF ATYS FFS! U R whinning about ctas shortage and being an underdog but the truth is u act like a bunch of sheeps that follow a blind sheppard! My advice is- u have a potential and means to bring the balance on Atys but as long as u keep doing what u do this is going to least what u find nowadays :D

So to conclude this bit longish-cirish speech...WAKE UP KAMIS AND STAND PROUD ONCE AGAIN !!!!!!!!

He´s in effect blameing the Devs for the Karavan on your Server having the upper hand and more players. That´s simply ridiculus.
That´s like saying in WoW, that a lvl 10 Charakter should get all epics for free, because the lvl 60ers do have them and "mostly" earned them.
It could have easly been the other way around, just look to our server. Kamis on the up. So what?
And funny thing is, I don´t even PvP, but I´ve got no real shortage of Catalysers. I just have to ask nicely and maybe pay a few mats and that´s it.
I use them mainly for digging, because that´s a real pain to level without ;)

And the only thing I would want them removed for is because of people like him, that act like drug addicts on cold turkey.

Reward is reward. Nomatter what you´d get it for.
If you want to get it, do something for it.
Even if that means paying for them or being nice and just asking others.

All of us "older Players" didn´t have Catalysers and we did all the things you did and do without them. So don´t go blaming anyone for your own shortcommings.
Just wanted to point out that i'm NOT one of those older players, which is why i brought that point up. I understand the bitterness and resentment that many older players have for cats, and rightfully so. But i'm sure they realise that the fun that they originally had earning those lvl's during the early days of ryzom outweigh their bitterness to the current evolution of the game.

Thats why, as a new player, i try not to moan when im out of cats (or at least not TOO much ;P). Theres a respect there as far as i'm concerned, respect for the older players, as well as my older guildmates that originally won our OP's before i joined a month ago. They worked damn hard, and so do i for that matter, to be where we currently are. Yea, we have high lvl's, but its as much to do with how much we play, and how much we help one another than how many cats we have.

If EoA didn't have the 250 Op's on cho, nobody would have em. Truth is, we're just the guys to get organized first, and level the most off the bat, and were (probably) the only group capable of getting the OP's that we have from the 250 NPC's at all at the time. If we didnt have em, they'd be sittin there unclaimed for the YUBO's to get the cats/mats from! lol

If when another organized guild comes along, we'll lose some of em. It's not that Kami is overpowering Karavan at ALL on cho, its just cho simply isnt heavily populated enough to support 2 large guilds atm, and smaller guilds are not willing to consolidate yet.

I'm not going to get into a "karavan-alliance debate", because i really dont have a clue about what its like on aris, and lord knows theres enough threads already dedicated to it. But what i will say is that the problems of imbalance has little to do with cats, and has everything to do with those who are organized taking control where they can, and should. Much of the weakness' of the current PvP has to do with disorganization and lack of coherancy on the side without the OP's.

I'm not going to "slow down" for those that play less, or have lower levels, because its not my job to. I play as much/as little as i feel like, same as everyone else. If it takes me 1 month to max a skill class, someone who puts 2-3 months to max the same skill tree will have the same SP's as i did, and are just as likely to kick my ass as i am to kick theirs.

If a player with cats has 3-4 high lvl skills, vs. someone without cats with only 1 or 2, theres no real advantage for the most part. A melee character only uses 1 skilltree when they fight, and mages either use 1 OR 2 depending if they heal and cast. If those that have cats choose to spend them to max out 5 skill trees...what does it really matter? They'll only be able to use a few of them in battle at a time (well, unless they're weirdo's and change armor mid battle ;P).

If you want to have the best item's equipment, i could reccomend a few decent "Free" to play rpgs. For the price of a months sub. to those games...you too could have 2x,4x, heck...even 6x the XP if your willing to pay, no skill required.

Hmm.. just wanted to add a lil comment. The OP is feeling pressure to be one of the BIG boys (teehee Ulani), mostly b/c s/he's feeling like it's not viable to be a pvper w/ no mastered skills. I'm pretty sure there are players who go and pvp in OP fights without mastered combat skills who still feel they've contributed during these fights. Equating winning with mastered combat levels seems a bit limited of a point of view. I'm neutral and don't pvp, but Karas winning on the server seems more an issue of greater numbers AND organisation at OP battles. And I don't even go to OP battles, but with talking to members of both sides, you get a feel of how these battles are won, or lost.

Regarding grinding, I wish I was still grinding ele magic. Why? Because I love to nuke, and going to Void looking for a team, even pre plod levels, was such a treat! I miss those days of ele grind. I go on treks and try to get into boss hunt teams, just for the chance to nuke the crap out of stuff. And I don't even ask for mats, and have been known to refuse mats, just so long as I get to nuke stuff. [Edit: pretty much no cats used for the grind, too! (cept for that one time w/ Sheara and Numaa practically givin me it, darn u 2)]

In short, levels isn't necessarily FTW, and I miss ele grind. [Thank you for your time. Please feel free to continue your day's tasks. The end. *bow*]

i dont use cats for combat, i dont have any 250 combats skills, i have a great time in PvP. But i didnt even think about until over a year of play.

please dont be in such a rush, this game isnt just a race to master levels to PvP - its really not the point at all. Pause a little and enjoy playing, not grinding as fast as you can.

Harcimarci is right imho, these xp cats are dumb and even dumber as reward for PvP.
I like Ryzom, one of the best MMO's i played sofar the last 15 years.
Im like Harcimarci rather new in this game and when i discovered the cats, i first thought, nah this can't be true, thats something for impatient kids not something for a game with a mature community like Ryzom.
And with one faction dominating the other faction I can understand why some people from the underdog faction hate that PvP reward system. Lets face it, this mass PvP system hes nothing to do with skill but just numbers. And the cats and OP mats gives the winning side the opportunity to outnumber even more.

p.s.
Respectless posts of the so called veterans (lol, this games is still very young for a mmo) in this thread makes me wonder if this game gives them any satisfaction besides griefing other people.

I'd second that - without diving far into the discussion.

IMO, it was a giant mistake to make cats regular 'equipment' after E2 was done with.
Unfortunately, you can't remove them now without all the regular consumers -shall we agree on calling them junkies? just compare...- ending up inundating Atys with their indignations.
And before I forget to mention: isn't it weird how some just don't feel as being an addition to life, the universe and everything, especially the fish, without being king of the hill?

I appologise for being what you might call "respectless". I simply had a not so good day and my temper got the better of me. :(

Sorry again, but my point stands.
