All of us "older Players" didn´t have Catalysers and we did all the things you did and do without them. So don´t go blaming anyone for your own shortcommings.
Just wanted to point out that i'm NOT one of those older players, which is why i brought that point up. I understand the bitterness and resentment that many older players have for cats, and rightfully so. But i'm sure they realise that the fun that they originally had earning those lvl's during the early days of ryzom outweigh their bitterness to the current evolution of the game.
Thats why, as a new player, i try not to moan when im out of cats (or at least not TOO much ;P). Theres a respect there as far as i'm concerned, respect for the older players, as well as my older guildmates that originally won our OP's before i joined a month ago. They worked damn hard, and so do i for that matter, to be where we currently are. Yea, we have high lvl's, but its as much to do with how much we play, and how much we help one another than how many cats we have.
If EoA didn't have the 250 Op's on cho, nobody would have em. Truth is, we're just the guys to get organized first, and level the most off the bat, and were (probably) the only group capable of getting the OP's that we have from the 250 NPC's at all at the time. If we didnt have em, they'd be sittin there unclaimed for the YUBO's to get the cats/mats from! lol
If when another organized guild comes along, we'll lose some of em. It's not that Kami is overpowering Karavan at ALL on cho, its just cho simply isnt heavily populated enough to support 2 large guilds atm, and smaller guilds are not willing to consolidate yet.
I'm not going to get into a "karavan-alliance debate", because i really dont have a clue about what its like on aris, and lord knows theres enough threads already dedicated to it. But what i will say is that the problems of imbalance has little to do with cats, and has everything to do with those who are organized taking control where they can, and should. Much of the weakness' of the current PvP has to do with disorganization and lack of coherancy on the side without the OP's.
I'm not going to "slow down" for those that play less, or have lower levels, because its not my job to. I play as much/as little as i feel like, same as everyone else. If it takes me 1 month to max a skill class, someone who puts 2-3 months to max the same skill tree will have the same SP's as i did, and are just as likely to kick my ass as i am to kick theirs.
If a player with cats has 3-4 high lvl skills, vs. someone without cats with only 1 or 2, theres no real advantage for the most part. A melee character only uses 1 skilltree when they fight, and mages either use 1 OR 2 depending if they heal and cast. If those that have cats choose to spend them to max out 5 skill trees...what does it really matter? They'll only be able to use a few of them in battle at a time (well, unless they're weirdo's and change armor mid battle ;P).
If you want to have the best item's equipment, i could reccomend a few decent "Free" to play rpgs. For the price of a months sub. to those games...you too could have 2x,4x, heck...even 6x the XP if your willing to pay, no skill required.
