I've started an attempt to condense it into one article. Here is what I have so far, if it might be useful.
katriell wrote:First, a few useful links:
  • "Regarding the apparent telepathic ability of all Homins on Atys" - Interesting theory and discussion (which falls off-topic after post #13 or 14).
  • "Q&A - 2005-04-04" - Last question relates to the nanoseed and Zoraï masks. This, and the mask animation you can see in character creation, is what I surmise from that a Zoraï can manipulate the shape of their mask's mouth and eyes via the nanoseed/"Seed." However, since many already roleplay the mask as expressionless, it can be assumed that the technique of mask-shifting is not well known (perhaps due to a popular philosophy that a static mask is beneficial for various reasons).
  • "Nanoseed"
  • "Aeion Lyan seen in Fyros Lands" - This and "Repercussions" are probably the most relevant and useful links, due to their more explicit confirmation of the "seed of life"/Seed/nanoseed's existence and description of its function.
  • "Repercussions...." - The permanent death of Marshal Phanasa in the kitin invasion of Pyr. Details how such death can be caused by "excessive trauma to the seed" or weakening of the seed by reviving many times.
  • "A New Era" - Another instance of permanent death: the assassination of Still Wyler, the former Tryker governor. A gun with Goo ammunition was used to shatter his seed. "Assassin says : Seed always yields to Goo, so the seed will die... Always"
So, we know this from official lore:
  • The seed allows homins to respawn/revive/resurrect and teleport.
  • Excessive trauma to the seed via blow to the head, Goo in weapon form, gradual weakening by resurrecting many times, and the seed-withering brought by old age can cause permanent death.
  • The seed is probably located in the homin's brain.
Other methods of permanent-killing may include:
  • Death in a region that is outside range of any portal or teleport, i.e. some areas of the old lands.
Further lore about the seed, unofficially supposed/assumed/established:
  • Homins communicate "telepathically" via the seed. Either the seed connects them to Atys, which connects them to other homins by extension, or the seed directly connects to other homin seeds. I'm not sure which one of these possibilities is more likely and accepted.
Details of seed-based communication:
  • There are essentially three types of messages: verbal, emotion, and impression. Verbal consists of thought sent in the form of words just as one would speak aloud. Emotion is sent in its own pure form and suggested to the mind of the recipient not as their own emotion but clearly as what is being felt by the sender. Impression is the transmission of a mental image or feeling of what a homin is doing or wants someone to think they are doing, i.e. hugging across distance. Objects, i.e. snowballs, can be used and felt components of impressions whether they exist in reality or not and regardless of distance. The core principle of such impressions may be subconsciously convincing one or more homin minds to perceive an act and react to associated sensations.
  • Types of "thought-casting" and linking to be added later, mostly based on Alurach's theory.
