I don't consider Ring content. Not until they make it much more versatile, include pvp in them, etc. Oddly enough, the people I've known who tried Ring agreed.
the funny part was the reply I got when I told them that none of that had been fixed: "well, its Nevrax... some things never change"

Agreed - the ring isn't content, its a content creator (and a flawed one at that).

I'm looking forward the bosses, though I'm long from taking them, which is ok if you ask me
I was very impressed with Bloom though the lack of antialiasing makes it a bit of a wash it's still very pretty, as if Atys weren't gorgeous enough.
The hair styles, though I've only seen Matis thus far were welcome though I wasn't very fond of any added. I'd love to see more variation in styles available over time.

It does have a few large, problematic flaws (as I see it, those relating to hosting and limitations in particular). If those were improved, there is no reason we shouldn't be swamped by excellent content, except flaws in players (lack of initiative/creativity).

when i started this game there was limited free access to the ring editor I fell in love with it. I'm still learning how to use the thing but in the meantime I keep checking to see if there are any scenarios online to take a gander at as some sort of "example" of the thing in action and I can find none. I find the lack or scenarios to be a pitty to me that is one huge plus to this game and its not being used

Yeah, but did it have any effect? If one land had no one helping, would it have made any difference? other than some list and a chart being different? so you got to carve your name in a tree? I mean I admit it was nice to see my old gildies and guild listed on there, but... *shrug* they're not here. and ... yeah.
totnkopf wrote:at first, all four were really buggy *snip* In game, yes... removed becuase of the way they were implemented.. yep. So simply claiming they were in game means nothing. Aen has been the only one that has worked decently, but it took them a while to get to that point.
Ah. I wasn't around to see anyone but Aen, so I didn't know the details.

Pra and I have a similar discussion a while back regarding the free 2 weeks. During the whole 2 free weeks, several older members returned to try out the game again. I don't think a single one of them tried the ring more than once (if at all). It wasn't what interested them in the game. Questions like "Is the encyclopedia done?", "ranged still messed up?", and "any new content?" were asked instead.
To me, there were other issues that could have been fixed first that would have boosted the return to Ryzom. If an email had been sent out that said "hey, we fixed ranged combat, added all the rewards to the encyc missions and plan on adding a few new sections a month/patch, and revamped the NPC bosses and put them back in game. We've also added Ryzom ring, a revolutionary new way to play a MMO. To celebrate rings release, we've given you 2 free weeks to come see the new Ryzom" I think a bunch more people would have returned. Instead, they returned to: Ryzom they chose to leave for various reasons + Ring.
Yup. It's me, Coral.

(man, I haven't TOUCHED even my free character since the couple times I played soon after the subscriptions were frozen =( )
I understand they have to work a lot to make an editor, since each feature needs to be safe to allow players access to them. but bleh.
I hope they do intend to give us a full set of tools... otherwise, we're going to be expecting them to deliver the quality content. hopefully this tool is unrestricted for them, and an improvement over whatever they had before.
I dunno... I think considering how far they've gone with what they were working on, that even if their focus had been different, we still wouldn't have had enough progress to impress the old players to come back.

Nevrax has some example scenarios that you can load to see some examples. These may be high though for many players. (1 is lvl 100 i believe, the other 2 are 200+ i think).

yep i had that same experience with most. Add to that it isnt too easy to come up with a ring scenario that really keeps you attached, as nothing is to be gained for experience, or loot. raises the question, is the system lacking something, or is the community not ready for something like it...
OTOH, the ring raised quite an ammount of media interest, i don't think adding "just" other new content, like the kitin lair, would have done. so from a marketing point of view, the effort wasnt wasted at all. I think we all noticed more ppl trying out Ryzom, and quite a few moved on to the mainlands during the summer. Zora lands were busier than before...

It was an article I read about the Ring that sparked my interest in Ryzom. Having arived here I've spent... perhaps three hours, tops in the Ring. It still needs quite a bit of devolopment. Aside from the fact that to run a scenerio you must be there, leading to the lack of scenerios available to play at any given time, the objects given are limited. Plenty of plants and mobs, and I can make NPCs but short of sticking them all in a Ranger-esk camp I'm stumped. I was looking forward interior design, to buildings and villages to explore, to fun ruins and dungeons. Hardly got that
