you can actually sell on to players animal and plant drops from hunting, especially if you just sell a lot of them that way and don't mark them up a lot.
I have yet to do anything with the up/down adjustment for markup and as a fledgling digger/crafter/hunter/mage (slow levelling ftw!) I sometimes find myself with a stack of lowish level materials that I don't want to just dump (I seem to always have the 128 max things for sale to players) so I'd rather burn some cheap xp and make a pile of boots to turn into dappers...so maybe I need to buy a stack of lowish quality components so I can use the stuff up. Better to get some little xp out of it than trash it, and you almost always get more than you spend back when selling the stack of boots to the NPC.
After all, if you got a bunch of ql 23 mektoub hoofs, you aren't going to waste ql 60 Choice jungle pha amber to make ql 23 earrings for practice.
So you can see that raw materials will sell to players, probably not hugely or fast. A lot of crafters are also going to dig their own. But, you got really nothing to lose and it is a way of making some dappers without digging and crafting.
Think about it. You got item X. Petrified Yubo Dung ql 23. Whatever. If you sell to NPC, you get 768. If you sell to players you get 768 and another 1025 if someone buys it. If it expires you already got the 768 and the NPC swallows it.
If you run out of room in the 128 max items you can have for sale, always "retrieve" the lowest items to make room for better stuff. There is no limit on how much stuff you can insta-vend to the NPC.
Now people will sell materials for wildly varying prices, use the filters aggressively, buy the stack for 228 each instead of the stack for 1017 each, and you come out ahead.
I take the higher levels at their word that dappers become plentiful but us lowbies gotta save up for packers and new hair!
