Actually, now that that I have some more IG time, I have a question
When harvesting, is there a way to see what mats are in a source from a distance? I find that I'm spending a lot of time (and Focus) digging up mats that I'm not interested in - well, OK. I'm SURE I'll use them later (I'm going the Craft route), but there's gotta be a better way to find the mats I need for specific mission reqs. I have Basic Prospecting and (I think) Double as well.
Thanks!

When you get more levels in foraging you can do better prospecting actions, you can specify the type quality (fine, choice, excelent, supreme and of course basic, the no quality option) specific mat type (amber, wood, resin etc) or craft type (magic focus, stuffing, trigger) There will be more powerful bricks available, longer range, larger cone, more spots, display material, specific material type etc, faster prospect, extra time for prospecting.
The one you are looking for is more spots per prospect and knowledge one wich will display the type of material, eg: [Wood <yourname.] Knowledge one is available at level 50 foraging iirc.
As to finding the mission materials on silan, there are not much tools to work with, ask around in region I'd advise

So I'm an even newer newb, given that I am still downloading the client. The game sounds great, but I can't seem to find any info regarding the differences between the free trial and the subscription. What content do you have access to in the free trial? How much more do you get with a paid account? Can you play for a couple days on the free account to get familiar with it, or is it more like a few hours before running out of stuff to do?
Thanks in advance. This sounds like a great community that actually expects you to have a real life outside of the game.

When you make a new character, they start on the Ruins of Silan island (affectionatly known as newbie island). With the free trial account, you have access to only the island, and can't go to the mainland. Your time played on the free trial is unlimited, and there's enough content to fill up a good 30-40 hours of game play there, quite a bit more if you don't just rush to complete the misions as quickly as possible. As you currently can't subscribe to the game while Nevrax is shutting down, the skill levels are technically unlimited, but practically limited to about level 50 or so, as the critters on the island won't level you much beyond that.
