The Karavan: are destroying Atys for their own greed and exploitative purpose.

The Kami: hypocritically compromise their own ideals when it suits them, and do the above occasionally.

They both: command their minions to kill each other to uphold their "ideals".

If you are neutral because you chose not to march in lockstep with these questionable "higher powers" then you are certainly displaying a certain amount of moral fiber lacking in their minions (unless the minions are simply blind to the realities of the situation, I suppose you can be moral but oblivious in a faction).

Thats moral superiority. There is nothing _wrong_ with playing a morally flawed character, heck all of the best characters in any setting are flawed in some way. But thats your choice.

History has a way of leveling us all out, except maybe our local comedy duo. The factions have in the past asked that we do exactly like you state, however it was situational and isolated to the pertaining event. DURING those events you guys were marching in lock step with the declarations made by at least one side...

Moral superiority is not a proclamation you make, it's a state of being based on actions (or lack of them) that would drag you down with the masses. Being in lock step with others while travesties such as those you attribute to the factions above and later acting innocent...

Z joined us during the temple event, during which we did as proposed for the neutral faction at the time, despite grumblings, and supported the underdog.

Regardless, it was a throwaway comment to try and show what you do get out of remaining neutral. Which IS a sense of accomplishment, moral superiority to fanatics and numerous other things that are hard to quantify. That you take such great offence says more about you, than me. That's a quality of RL fanatics though.
