Well from my experience, yes certain mobs have an uber member, met some 1337 Igaras in my time I can tell you :)

Anyway, I level melee first to get the HP up, then I start the mage tree.

I tend to focus on Izam, Lesser, Vulgar and Prime, then Igara, Vigilant, Hungry and Scavaging, that and slower mobs like Arma, Robust, Wary...etc.

Also, none of those mobs are social, so you get no "adds"

As I said, I have met the odd birdie that resist phenomonally, but mostly its pretty plain sailing.

Maybe you are pulling mobs that are rated too high on the Star System for your level. The list I gave above, are rated from lowest to highest if thats a help.

I never go near Kipees, Stun is Teh Sux0r :)

I think elemental is the easiest skill to level up, especially using the technique above, which has proved successful for me on two characters..

Also a suggestion: Try to always use your highest skills against a mob unless its like a yubo, or obviously not nessiary, as using lower end skills vs your highest seem to result in resists. Along with very high mobs vs your own levels.

yep's every now and again you get a supermob that is much tougher than it should be, havent kept a record if it happens with every species but it does happen. It's something i like though as in general hunting is too easy so its nice to be kept on your toes/actually have a risk of dying. Can see how it would be annoying at low level though as its probably a death experience.

Use a helmet if you melee a Kipee. That helps a bit against stuns.

Justr curious, are you sure of that? because I had heard of this ... let's say... "urban legend" in the past, and I spent a few hours testing it (although must admit like 10 months or more ago). To be honest (but I may be wrong) is that my conclusion was that it had no effect whatsoever in the rate you are stunned, as if the server:

a - decided what body part you were hit
b - computed the damage etc. based on your armor piece
c - decided whether it was a critical effect or not
d - applied the effect.

I did not think that the result in b) had an effect / impact on c, but I may be wrong, that's why I am asking.

kipee's have a special attack in the way of a stun, 's not related to having a critical head strike (although of course they can do that as well)

true.... I just put that order like this, to illustrate the point, but the idea is the same, the special attack did not seem to be reduced by the helmet.

thanks,

When soloing kipees you have 2 friends: Root and stun - I realise this takes XP away from ele, but it gives 'em a taste of theit own medicine :P
3:1, 2:1, 1:1 ... probability factor of one to one; we have normality. I repeat: we have normality. Anything you still can't handle is therefore your own problem.

Death build's character. ;)

I look at it this way, personally. In a game such as this, it makes things a LOT more interesting to keep the danger level elevated a bit. It might make for some DP now and then (easy to dig it away), but I appreciate my successes 10 times more because of it. Besides... getting killed once in a while allows me to sell off my junk and store my mats. :D

As stated by others, the kipee special attack is a stun, it has nothing to do with your head, helmet won't help at all.

Any creature can get a short stun by getting a critical hit on your head, but even then having a helmet on doesn't help at all either.

Only thing you can do is have a higher dodge/parry (for melee) or just not let it get close to you as a mage to try avoid getting hit in the first place.

I agree kipee, like gingo, are a very dangerous prey to tackle solo. I would say these are mobs that are designed for teams to hunt, and would be disappointed if they were made safer for soloers.
