Friday Patching and Rollback

then i am truly impressed, and the players of the game are truly spoiled. EVERY patch or update in the other game has had another patch about 3-4 hours behind it. my hats off to ryzom.

Nevrax tries to polish out their patches as much as possible before releasing them; infact, I presume thats what happened during this instance as we patched on Friday instead of the typical "Patch Thursdays". Tho, did seem to come with a very rare drawback.

But yes, we rarely have an "emergency" patch to correct an earlier patch.

Edit: Bf649ztp, that is practically my same story. I found one of the last few copies in the bargin section nearly 2 years ago. After looking at the box some, put it back. Came back a week later and bought it after liking what was on the box.

However, the number of ppl that log on to find dp and have no interest in bosses/sups etc faaaaar exceeds those that do.

People should be impressed you keep regular logs and before patches, I've seen many a company who doesn't have the sense to do that.

So this means I lose two levels cos of a bit of DP, am I correct in thinking this?!?

Because a few people lose XP from DP, every body else has to lose XP they gaind from grinding? This is crazy!

Just think of all the others who didnt login, when they do they are dead and ported back to hometown complete with unearned dp.

And if you managed to gain 2 lvls that quickly you can do it again. Nothing has changed for you in essence but it has changed for those that logged in dead.

Rollback is the fairest way to deal with it but either way it wont make everyone happy.

They were in crafting and I saved my mats up all week, to grind and now they are gone along with my 2 levels, thats why.

If there is a rollback, your mats will back again. Nothing lost at all.

Not sure on this but I beleive some people gained multiple DP penalties...
Personally I only got one.

But these people suffered as a result of Nevraxs actions, so it is right for Nevrax to correct the issue. As for all the Sup diggers and Boss hunters, they were attempting to exploit a known flaw with the patch process, so haven't got a leg to stand on.
Just because most patchs allow you to hunt Boss's or dig Sups regardless of when they are supposed to spawn, doesnt give you the 'right' to do so.

and as for the player who used up mats to gain 2 levels.. wont the rollback restore the mats ?

I dont know as I never did a roll back before and I dont dig, I had to kill a sickening amount of arma and igara for those mats and if they are not restored, I'll jack in crafting as I cba killing mobs for no XP, so therein lies the rub.

I'm sorry people got DP, but at level 250 it takes me half hour or so to clear a DP, whereas it took me a week to get that stuff with no XP other than craft xp, so that is whats annoying.

There's no reason to believe they wouldn't be. If you had the materials in your posession immediately before the patch, you'll have them when you're next able to log in. I'm sure you're fine and there's no reason to be annoyed.
