I think I have the same setup as Redslayer knowledge-wise.

Civ: Undetermined
(not sure if those play a role or not)
General: 1/1
Desert: 7/7
Subtropic: 7/6 (when was Lakelands dropped?)
Forest: 7/7
Jungle: 8/7
Prime Roots: 0/13
Been awhile since I've been on this toon but I think it is fair to say I have lit all the portals (that is my guess on how you unlock these).
