dude, i played tic tac toe 2 years ago, was so boring, took me 3 hours to figure out that you wern`t allowed to draw triangles, DEVS NEED TO FIX THIS !!11. Then after i got past level one and drew a circle nothing happened omg, i swear it was broke, so went on EBay and bought an official tic tac toe strategy guide, but the book didnt have pictures so that was a waste of $30

I deleted the tic tac toe board from my piece of paper after that using my pencil eraser after that, and never looked back until now. now I figured out you need two people to play. I`m level 60 tic tac toer now dude, gimme a buzz if you want a game.

This is the second post I've seen from someone who was frustrated with the newbie isle and, frankly, I'm glad I'm not a newbie in this game.

The 'wonderful community' we supposedly have here are doing a great job of taking the piss out of the guy - go us, eh? No wonder some people think we have a niche fanboy game community here... *sighs*

To some of you, the Isle may be totally obvious and simple but you've been around long enough to figure it out. People who just downloaded the client to try the game have not. They need more help, not having someone suggesting they go play tic-tac-toe. Great response... really...

Did we all want the game to go into bankruptcy? That's what will happen if they don't continue to put bums on seats here - paying seats that is...

Carry on being shortsighted and soon you can all go play tic-tac-toe... or WoW which is slightly more challenging. :)

I am relatively new to the game, RoS was pretty straight forward for me. But perhaps those who have posted threads like this never bothered to ask for help from other players?

I don't know why they have had the trouble... but a flaming rant isn't the best way to get a good reaction from people. Tends to put them on the defensive, which in the world we live in, is usually the offensive.

You all can ***** all you want but this is why this game is on its deathbed. so flame me all you can i don't care. I can jsut go play ffxi or all the other mmo's i play. I gave this game one more try and it was not noob friendly, i mena come on people i was killed the sec i walked into the pvp zone !! i was geting killed as the pvp warning flashed on my screen!!!

I walked around the outside of the noob city and all i could find was bird after bird lookig monster so im thinking this is the noob mobs im post to fight!!

Its bad game design to put strong level mobs right nexed to the noob zone. thats why its called a STARTING CITY!!!

I dont want to spend 5 hours looking for something i can kill. I can't even see the levle of the mobs because i was a noob!! This game is not new player friendly!!
And if you all say it is your just trying to keep this dead hore alive!

New players want to work up into pvp and learn the game slowly not thrown into the sharks the first few mins of the game.

Fix the problems and people will come back to this game and STAY!! but if you die from pvp 20 mins into the game when your still tryng to just find the first npc or figuring out how the hub works. Then like me your goign to say ya this still sucks, back to FFXI....

The only spot dedicated to PvP on Silan is the mini-arena, and you aren't killable until the warning timer finishes spamming you. So, yeah.

It sounds like you didn't ask anyone for assistance, which is usually the best bet when you are having some difficulty.

While you may not like some of the replies that were thrown into this thread, it might have been better to post a "can someone help" thread. The responses may have allowed you to enjoy a great game.

if you went to the pvp zone you would have seen the hundreds of yubos around it especially if you were looking for 5 hours. If you spent three hours looking for chiang the strong (5metres in front of you as you log in) then theres something wrong with you. If it takes you 60 seconds to read "you are entering a PvP area, you are attackable in 60 seconds" then you are gonna struggle as its not instant as you claim. If you did find chiang, and read the text (the long story about nothing as you put it) it tells to and directs you to the next person to speak to, who does tell you what to do next, ie kill yubos, of which there are no shortage.

sorry you wasted 8 hours off your life, better luck nexed time

I'd direct the OP to this thread about a new player that missed the point, but the OP didn't even get past RoS. Some of the game veterans are concerned of the unruly gamers the free tutorial will bring in, but if new players like these can't even get past the tutorial, then Silan is actually weeding out some people that won't be a good fit for our community.

Let the thread die folks. Nothing but road kill here. (See it? The yubos are still peein' on him)

how can we fix you attitude?

seriously. stop ranting like a baby for just one second and read what people are saying.

you start the game facing the person you have to talk to, he is also marked in your compass, they are probably lots of players standing around him/moving toward him - how can that be anymore obvious?

when you walk out of the village you are surrounded by suckling yubo in every direction. but honestly if you attack something and die and instead of deciding to come rant on the forum about how crap the game is you could maybe

1) think, hmm maybe that is too strong for me i'll find something else
2) asking in region or uni: hey i've just started what can i kill
3) pay a slight bit of attention to your interface and noticing the target window with roll over help

lol

This game is the most supportive and friendly i have ever played, but if you arent prepared to try and help yourself a tiny bit, and instead think its better to post crap like this on the forums then I'd say that others taking the piss is a pretty mild reaction.

*tries to find a way of responding to this post*

a agree this game isnt for all, far from it, some people dont get it - true, but how many times have you read ALL the documentation/website info/forum before starting a trial of the game. Dunno about you, but i try alot, reading little, relying on ingame tutorials and such. majority of new homins who arrive on Silan dont know about the gameplay of this game;

the talk to first NPC, "go kill some yubos" 3 weeks pass of "go kill", "go dig", "go craft" and "go find" quests (nowhere is this described as a tutorial island).

some will get the wft syndrome when they hit the mainland. This game needs an intro, no super special FMV needed, just an intro into the kara/karavan, a homins struggle to grow and survive against the kitin threat and a intro into the trial. (look at EVE`s opening sequence for the sort of thing i mean)

Easy for someone to click on Chieng the Stong for guidance on Silan, and offering no alternative on the mainland is a bad move, whether it be a quest/task/welcome/introduction.

edit: sorry Kat, not dissagreeing, just there is 2 ways to look at this recuring problem: Ignore and joke about it, or resolve it

Look like this is the only guy who gets what im saying!

I decided to start a new character after being out of the game so long, and I have to say the new starter area does have some drawbacks to the way it used to be.

The main problem I found is the fact it's so spread out now. It used to be the case that all the trainers and merchants were in one spot - now they're all over the place. I had a few problems finding people and spent some time just running about trying to hunt people down.

Having said that, that was the only real issue I had. Other than that it's a good intro to the game, and there were a lot of people asking questions and getting help from other people.
