I submit that this sort of a response is not helpful, and is just what the OP was complaining about (and rightly so, in my opinion -- for him to complain that is). Just because someone is lost in the UI or lost in the ranger camp on day 1 (especially at night, in the rain), is no reason to be sneeringly condescending and tell him Ryzom is not for him.
I have been here since July, I have been paying since 8 August. My character is well over level 100 in 2 combat skills and 2 foraging skills, and in the 80s in jewel crafting. I have participated in 2 successful Treks (Pyr - Yrk, Pyr - Zora), and numerous other overland adventures. I am a member of one of the largest and most active RP guilds on Arispotle. And I am a High Officer in that guild. I am not trying to toot my own horn here but given all that let me ask... do you think "Ryzom is not the game for me"? Clearly I know what I am about NOW.
However I'll let you in on a secret. When I started the game, I was consistently getting lost in the ranger camp. I could not find quest givers a second or third time to return and get new quests after the first time. I couldn't find the raw mats merchant. I had to have some (kind) experienced players lead me by the nose to these places and explain how to landmark them. And even after more time, I still needed the landmarks to find the damn quest givers because to a newbie everything in the camp looks "the same" -- you have not yet learned to distinguish the subtle racial hints to find a Matis area, or a Fyros area, etc.
If the attitude of those players who helped me had likewise been "Ryzom is not for you" would they have been correct, given my clear success as a happy Ryzom player in the months since? Obviously -- no.
i'm sorry you dont like people who enjoy the game - fanboys - cause i am another one.
It's fine to like the game or even be a fanboy. I love Ryzom. My review on the Roleplay Cafe gave it an 8.9 out of 10. That review convinced 2 other members of that site to try it (though they haven't subscribed yet).
What I believe is NOT fine is telling someone to go jump in the lake when he asks for help. Ryzom's best feature is its wonderful community. It got that way by being helpful. Let's try not to destroy that by being elitists now.
