I am against it simply cause the Dev's added the Universe channel (HELP) channel and people abuse it. it seems to be in ppl's nature to abuse channels, once they see someone they like or hate in a certain channel, those channels will just get spammed, if people didnt abuse the channels it would be a great idea, until they dont abuse things, i dont think the Dev's should add anything new.

The original post mentions a "looking for team(group)" window, and if I am thinking of what the original poster meant, it would be a feature allowing players to see a list of people who are looking for a group, filtering by skill level range, faction, region, whatever.

Opening up another channel for OOC or some such thing would require moderation to prevent abuse, and I am not sure if Nevrax will ever do such... but there have been a lot of people asking for it.

exactly.
It would require someone to watch it, and I dont know what tools the Guides/CSRs have to do their jobs but I suspect having to watch multiple chat channels doesnt make their job any easier.

I suspect that's why we don't have an OOC channel now. :) The window concept though... that doesn't seem like a bad idea to me.

I think I played a game (can't say the name cause I dont remember anymore which one it was ;) ) once that had a game where you could click a lfg-box or do /lfg, which then made it possible for other people to find you.

They then did a sort of /who lfg and then they got the list. It worked pretty well , I think. And no reason for a channel. Would be easy to have the list show lvl and faction too maybe...

had lfg commands with filters and so, games like - everquest(1+2), darkage of camelot, swg, shadowbane and WoW..

ps - in WoW, it was built by players, not WoW dev team

Agreed, such a list would be far better to yet another and another and another channel, that would sure as winter comes every year be abused again.
And, how many windows do you want anyway? Don´t you think cluttering your screen with multiple Chat windows will make the game even more : "a gloryfied chat-programm" like stated before?
Yeah, you could turn them off, sure. But what if those wanting all these, would like to look for a group and have a look out for a new sword, and have a nice OOC-conversation and have a nice IC-conversation and want to help a newbe... Respect to those who´d be able to handle all this and still steer through some aggro invested area or fight some mob. ;)

And now don´t tell me, people won´t do this! They are allready doing it and complaining about it. I still remember a time when the word about universe channel was : "What do we need another channel for??"

And someone correctly remarked the need for moderation of ALL these new channels. I dread the day when some peeps might shout through the "Crafters-Channel", : "My warez are better then your wearez Suxxor!!" :D
or somesuch. Who want´s to bet that it doesn´t come to this?

Be carefull what you wish for. You might get it. :p

For those who remember Universe chat in beta will probably say that is what is needed. The current Universe chat we have now must have been poorly translated from French or just a copy/paste of the old beta code as a quick fix.

A real unvierse chat would solve most of these problems and adding a REAL help tab/channel would be a better idea for Q/A with an emphasis on player driven support with a casual CSR watchdog. It's not the CSR's fault that Nevrax poorly implented this.

I seem to remember Horizons had an excellent LFG facility where you could search for players by lvl and class aswell not just LFG.

Must add that the HZ channel system was pretty good with the ability to create your own channels, but that being said, ones like the Bazaar channel did get pretty spammy.
