Again it's an encylopedia, not an advertisment. So it's important to only put facts and not opinions. An entry about the community should not exist because it would be only an opinion.
I agree the background needs to be rewritten, but not fleshed out. It needs to be explained in a very short and to the point way.

Currently yes, in the past it was unlimited I believe. Even if EQ2 does not qualify, games like Anarchy Online let you play free as long as you want. Don't forget the starter island in SOR is also island bound.
Calling the starter island innovative is stretching things.

I can rewite the intro if someone can get me the following info is sources:
When did SOR start to be developed.
How long was it in development?
I remember reading something about it being produced for 5 million dollars? Anyone know anything about that?
When was it launched?
Is it the sole creation of DCC?
Also the outposts can be considered an innovation due to the way they are designed. I do not know enough about them to write a short paragraph though.
Also if you want an real good idea of what a MMORPG entry should be like look at the one for Earth and Beyond.

That's weird.... I jsut went to the article and didn't see any mention of Ryzom again, so I added it back. Just listing it as one of the modern MMORPGs...

This is why one shouldn't go editing randomally. When you added it you simply threw it on at the end of the line. The line reads:
This was followed in November 2004, with Sony Online Entertainment's EverQuest II , and Blizzard Entertainment's World of Warcraft .
to which you changed it to this:
This was followed in November 2004, with Sony Online Entertainment's EverQuest II , Blizzard Entertainment's World of Warcraft, and Nevrax's Saga of Ryzom.
That is not correct at all. The Saga of Ryzom was launched in September 2004. It's also THE Saga of Ryzom, not just Ryzom.
I have fixed it to the following:
This was followed in September 2004 with Nevrax's The Saga of Ryzom. Then in November 2004, Sony Online Entertainment launched EverQuest II and Blizzard Entertainment launched World of Warcraft
Also if you look at the bottom the author does mention the Ryzom Ring.
I know I seem harsh on this, but strict rules do need to be followed. Right now there is a big problem with political candidate and corporations editing entries to make them advertisments instead of facts. Check out Walmarts page and you will see what I mean.

hehe, be careful when being pedantic. It is now just Ryzom, they dropped 'The Saga of' a couple of months ago:

Yes but when the game was launched it was The Saga of Ryzom.

In which case, where is the mention of 'since renamed to'
This is the reason that I don't generally get involved in Wikipedi, too many editors with their own ideas of what is 'correct'. The Ryzom entry in Wikipedi, is in a serious need of an update and still has the wrong name. I daresay it'll get done, but maybe Nexrax's people should put an 'official' entry into the Wikipedi.
Of course, I'm still not seeing the MMORPG entry with any Ryzom at all
