Very nice event, congratulations to Nevrax and CSRs for it
, we had a very good time, server stability seemed ok (at least for the first event instance, apparently it wasn't so good for the 1 am BST one?) and overall very positive
Now a few areas where smallish improvements are possible:
- [Minor] Sometimes, (maybe it's a visual effect) the HP bars on a target seem to "refill instantaneously". It seems to have happenend in other events as well.
- [Minor] nitpicking.... but the event almost reached the point of becoming "too" repetitive. Wave after wave, plus the commander. it was a imho well chosen number of waves, but the players started to drop the scenario before the event was over.
- [Wish] Also, as the pink rez gadget (Sxar) mentioned, the ranks could use some variation, and also in terms of relative difficulty. Basically there were 2 types (for a specific kitin species): the "private", a 3-5* purple and the "commander" (bossy). What about having more variation? from low hp ones to the point that one can bomb them and one-shoot a bunch of them, progressively towards the "Supreme Commander", with 5 or 6 degrees of difficulty (maybe it is already like this, but it seems the bi-nature minion/boss).
- [Wish] the next step would be very nice. The "mass invasions" are cool, one of the selling points of the game and can be repeated periodically... to some extent. Whereas balancing the difficulty is tricky without knowing in advance the number of players willing to assist, two details:
* first, one cannot avoid having the impression that it is a bit of a "zerg" effort -- if only similar events were held without targetting a server-wide, sunday-eve population -- except when there are multiple "bosses" it is hard to define "tasks" to be performed by different groups of players (e.g. one controls the hill, the other the base, the third protects the civilians, etc). The "let's Zerg the boss" is too present.
* second, the sandbox nature of the ring scenario, while fun, is limiting, no long term effects, (no rewards too, but personally reward is not as important as e.g. not having NPC merchants if we loose). Several players decided to drop the scenario before it was over, regardless of how many bosses left... they had their invasion-shot fix and over.
All in all, smallish details in the review of a positive event.
