As treks go Tryker - Matis (or vice versa) is by far the hardest as you have to cross some of the harder zones in the game. It is also the one that takes the longest time.
OotN record time for that with 2 teams - 23 mins lol but we were much younger

haha i can agree with that.
as far as treks go that guilds will likley run for new members to get racial lands i would have to say crossing bounty beaches is the hardest place in the game. it is packed full of cutes and torbaks that like to swarm around you. new players tend to get scared so run off when the **** hits the fan and so find more agro. solo running and running treks for new players is a whole diff ball game. you have to consider how well your team will deal with staying in tight groups, healing the right players, knowing what to do if agroed by a rouge boss or one of the many wandering agro patrols. trench of trials and heratics hovel are pretty hard too. however with trench of trials there are pretty large chunks that are agro free so finding somewhere to run to isn't too hard. Heretics hovelis nasty because it is pretty confined by the landscape (lots of narrow passageways) but with a couple of nukers it is really quite easy. Loria is tough too since the mobs are lvl 200-250 but again there are pretty easy routes throuugh and plenty of places to run to.
bounty beaches has no where really to run, there are millions of ****ing cutes (what is cute about them anyways) and torbaks patrol along the walls. i only ever take people through there that know how to heal and don't run around at the first sign of trouble. in this respect nexus is pretty similar too however i do not consider this to be part of the normal 'trek route'. whenever i'm running through nexus i am always with players who know what they are doing
bounty beaches is not however the nastiest part of the game, parts of wastelands can be insane. if you really want a challenge run into a kitin nest, smack the great kizarak and try and get out alive. i'd have to say that would be the hardest thing to do solo or even in a team.
so.. what makes a trek hard? the level of mob? the claustophbic nature of the landscape? lack of places to run to when things really do go wrong?
no
what makes a trek hard are players who don't know what they are doing.
