if they doubled xp and sold flowers and op mats... there would be no reason to have op's... it's not like you can do anything with them... except battle for control.IMO op's have turned ryzom into RISK(a game of global domination)

Only if you participate in the OP conflict. ;)

What I find amusing is that the Karavan folks are the ones always objecting to threads like these... saying, "We've talked about it already.. Deal with it!"...

If the tables were turned, you all know that the karavan would be saying the exact same thing that the kami are saying. So please, lets not jump down everybodys throat here, and treat each other with due respect.

I understand that rehashing an already hashed topic can be annoying, and useless at times. But if a large part of the community feels like the game isn't balance and fair, and as fun as it could be... then i say they have a right to post their concerns. OP content has changed Ryzom. Take it or leave it. Without this content available to you, the game can be viewed as incomplete and "not as fun"... don't drive players away just because they are stating their mind in an un-aggressive, un-flamatory way.

If you think the topic has been discussed to much, THEN DONT RESPOND. It's that simple. Don't give attention to something you dont view is necessary. It does no good to tell people off, and say "don't object about that! Someone already did!"...

....

do you speak about outpost battles ?
if so, then sides are even. in op fight, there is only attackers and defenders, no kami/karavan/neutral.

Never ahead, but we held it at even for a good long time.

You'd of been allowed to kiss Lord Brithlem's feet before accepting your cats

lol

BTW - Does Atys have any hope of a return from Brithlem? Or has his legacy ended?

I didn't see it directly discussed on the forums before.

Kami were never ahead in terms of OP ownership. The races tended to stick to thei rnatural predisposition, not to say that that is a good goal.

I was gone from like January til July though so I probably missed all of those threads.

with smaller numbers skills and strategy matter more

right now its just horde v horde, you can argue that strategy is still employed, but it is a lot more haphazard, and not nearly as graceful with groups these size

It all depends on how well the two forces are organized and directed. A large scale PvP battle can be very wild and exciting, unless it's just thrown together and done in the "every homin for themselves!" fashion.

While I have yet to engage in more than a couple of duels in Ryzom, I have lots of experience in large scale PvP assautls with as many as 120 or so split between 2 forces fighting to take a castle from a 3rd force.

Large scale PvP takes much more strategy and tactical skill than battles with a couple of dozen. Keeping something like that organized, and motivating that many people to actually follow directions is in and of itself a challenge. :)

I'm looking forward to getting into an OP battle sometime. I like a challenge, and there are no NPC mobs as dynamic as a player. I'm curious, since this topic is entitled "Outpost Etiquette", how each force behaves on the battlefield. Does roleplay take place more often than not, or is it simply "your faction aint worth crap" sort of blustering? Is there honor on the field of battle?

Personally I prefer to engage in combat, test my skills against others, and accept my victories and defeats with honor. I've never found trashtalk (unless roleplayed well) to be worth anything, and while I enjoy PvP, it is the test of skill that appeals to me.
