I went fighter too, but harvesting is easy to pick up just by doing the quests and getting skill points from the trainer. You can't choose your class incorrectly on the starter island, I don't think...if you decide you're interested in magic, or crafting, or harvesting instead of fighting, just visit the trainers and do the quests, and you'll be able to spend points in those skill trees.
