Eventually I just stop saying "congrats" or "nice one" after I've had to say grats to people too many times, it's not that I want to be rude it's just when there's about 5 people all dinging constantly sub level 50 eventually you get a little sick of typing it every 10 seconds lol.

As for never coming across it thats odd, it comes from the original everquest and has been about for a very long time. I never liked it then don't really now :P Not the whole congratulating people thing just the word ding, it never sounded like a ding anyway lol.

Nice one ty..

Interesting graph.
So, roughly based on that...
my routes would consist of (roughly)

140 - 150
80000/3000 = 26
26x10 = 260, 3k Beasties.

150 - 160
90000/3000 = 30
30x10 = 300, 3k Beasties.

So to get to lvl 160, 20 lvls... I'd have to kill 560, 3k Beasties..

I like to know these types of things =D

In a team hunt there is also a practical reason for letting the group know when you've "dinged"; XP earned is based on the highest skill level being used. As you (and others) ding, and the XP goes down to a point where its not "cost effective" any longer, its time to move on to a different mob. Also, in many team hunts I've participated in, the goal of the hunt was to get one or more players a certain number of levels (usually to one of the "important" levels), so letting the group know you've dinged gives them a feel for how well you're progressing.

Of course, that's what it was! I thought the devs had added hundreds more mobs to hunt, but it was just Redslayer taking a break :)
