I was still at a stage then when I had 2 people in Pyr, and 2 in Matis land.. Its ok now, not a problem, but when i first started, new game, your friends spread all over the map.... scared, alone, don't know where to turn, who to ask?

kinda sucks imho..

sucks more than each race being on their island and never meeting in the first place?

but as a FYI it was asked for in the Silan testing for it to be made a lot clearer that different races will go to different lands on leaving, maybe the dev's will do so in a future patch.

Forums. Best place to ask for anything. And as we can see just from the threads currently active in in the General section, new players have no problem asking questions on the forums.

But if players don't ask, we can't help.

And yes at lvl 50 you can do some trekking. Whether alone or in a group. Patience is the key and asking for help when ya need it.

thats not really the point im trying to get across, im trying to say, 4 friends start a new game, in the hope to play together and enjoy each others company, like we did in SWG, but are unable to due to being forced to start in different areas.

In the early days i did ask for help, and received it, but thats not what im trying to say.

Then please say what you're trying to say.

In Ryzom it doesn't make sense for a Tryker to start in Zorai. And it doesn't make any sense for a newbie to get something for free. Part of this game is the world, treks are part of the game. You get the new area to play together to get used to the game, anything else you have to work for and to me that's a good thing. No silver platters here.

Also to play with each other doesn't mean you have to all be in the same location. Get all in the same guild. Create your own guild. Try to make the trip yourselves. Find someone to make the trip with you.

Ive already said it, but ill try to make it extra clear..

4 RL friends from SWG come to Ryzom.
We all play in Newbie land, and lvl together, enjoying the game!
We then all pay our subscription cos we want to go to Mainland.
We arrive, only to find 2 in Pyr, and two in Matis..

How heart breaking is that? 2 weeks playing together, after a week of trying to get across to each other 2 go "sod it", im not starting a new toon to come to your area, i give up.

Im not fussed about race starting here, there or anywhere, im more interested in friends being able to play together, and enjoy the game. Not dying a million times trying to get to each other. Asking every joe-blog for a trek to pick up my friends, an/or leave me there..

Anyhoo, ive hijacked this thread to much, closing case.

You're not listening so I give up.

I'm sorry your friends left. But I don't think free tickets are the way forward.

Nor should there be. I couldn't agree more. Part of the problem IMHO is that things ARE too easy for new players - "not like in the good old days". :D

Seriously though, it's not a show stopper and you can all join the same guild and chat in there until you meet up. I had a similar problem when I first started way back at retail. I had made friends in beta who all went Matis while I went Fyros. So for quite a while, I couldn't play or chat with my friends until they got across and tagged me, then trekked me to Matis.

So newer players have it easier than I did with the new distance invite command.

Bottom line is this game gives you nothing on a plate (except maybe XP with the cats :rolleyes :) . However, if you're prepared to work and also seek help, you can achieve anything. :D

Wow....your friends left becaue they were in a seperate location ?.
I wonder what would hapen next time some small challenge is presented..once the 'easy give me all' attitude is accepted (in this case travel tickets) where will it end ?.
PLease remove the explosion and gas from the materials ?..the list is endless.
Ryzom is friendly and challenging..the perfect combination.

Not to seem rude, but honestly I agree wholeheartedly with your assessment. If that is what caused them to quit it's probably a good thing they did now, before a guild invested time and energy into them.

As a good friend of mine always says about Ryzom "It's a journey, not a race" Although it applies to leveling, in a broader sense it is about playing and enjoying the game instead of expecting everything to be easy or handed to you.
