Kite just like normal - stand at max range, shoot (set to autofire), and immediately run away - some mobs eventually catch you - but at least you have a big head start damage-wise. The only tricky part is to not run into another mob while kiting. Yes the mob will follow you a long time (they do eventually stop), but you want him to follow you, otherwise you would move out of range.
On a side note - I don't know anyone who doesnt multi-class in this game, since there is no penalty for doing so. Most people I have met will not leave the newbie land until they are at least level 30 in combat and magic. (Maybe its just us Trykers - I have no idea what the other races are doing, which is kinda cool, and kinda strange)

no one said ranged doesn't miss. but it's very rare when it does happen, at least with my zorai, fyros and matis ranged fighters.

Usually I see range miss on high dodge mobs with low ql ranged weapons... It works great on mobs equal or lower level than your weapon.

I think the traditional reasoning behind range doing more damage than melee is because it costs an extrodinary amount more to do. Not only that but you spend 3/4 of the time maintaining your ammunition, crafting your equipment, and gathering the neccessary supplies, whereas Melee Fight, you grab a knife and go out and cut things.
I do see the benefit of being able to run and shoot at the same time, but is that enough to justify the "so-so" damage that ranged Fight does, especially after all the ahrd work and money you put into it?

ask a mage to enchant your weapon with blind or stun spell, that should do it...
i havent tried it but it should give u 1-2sec on running away after using the spell...
