Maybe even with little flags in front of their names if they are factioned players.
Fine. Anything to end the constant arguements about the numbers. I just mentioned the /who command because I thought it would be simplest to change and it already exists.
marct wrote:Although the purpose is noble, this defeats some of the things about fights that make them fun. Namely, sending a party flanking, having the hordes show up, etc.
It's bad enough I cna issue a command and see who all is in my region, knowing which faction or if they are PvP tagged without seeing them in person seems a little over the top.
I would prefer a change in facial appearance, stance, and idle animations instead of the PvP flag. On top of that, if you are faciton aligned, I would expect mofe of a Kami flag or Kara flag emblazoned on your vest or tatooed to your neck.
I agree that a more immersive world would be nice, but by that argument, you've already got /who and a radar. Not sure how my suggestion makes it that much worse. To get what you want, you'd have to kill off both of those things as they stand today. While that's an interesting discussion, my main concern in this thread is documenting what happened.
If the best way that we can all live with is to be able to extract some sort of after-action log that we can access only after the fighting is done, that would be fine with me.

I think that would be dandy. Have it almost be like a scorecard. Mintues logged per side, damage inflicted(by which method), effective healing score(note over healing does not count), etc. That would be interesting.

Point taken; I agree and 2nd the theory behind your request, but I think in the case of FvF tags it would be better to make it a seperate list instead of adding info to an existing list (problems would include things as simple as how to format the output.. not everyone's sys info is the same size/shape for example)

Nobody's using the sysinfo window directly for this; they're activating chatlog and dumping the results that way. At least I hope so. If not, then they are retyping whole lists by hand. Ouch.
Regardless, I now endorse first the idea of a
post-action log that we can get
after each battle with as much detail about the battle as the devs are willing to give us, but especially who was on what side and for how long.
If it turns out that a big project, but enhancing the /who list is minor, then do that instead. I don't want this idea to be something that bogs down development of more important items.

For the recent thread I retyped the list by hand while bored at work, since all I had was screenshots to go on. Yeah, it was a pain

I bet you typed the list using only one hand, therefore the entire list is biased and should be thrown out!

Dont think this would be too hard to add, just the way in which to do it. I would rather see to channels defend and attack as already mentioned. Would be nice to communicate to everyone on the field.
Would also be nice for at each OP a field marshal could be elected, so that when they type its in BOLD RED or something so that people can follow there orders.

Why not have attacking/defending channels and then persuade the devs, come on you know we really love u deep down

, to put a command in like /who that allows you to see who is in the channel.

I would go with somthing added to the OP banner post at the end of a battle showing who had taken which option during the conflict. I dont know how much info is really necessary (Faction) etc as most peeps seem mostly just interested in overall numbers.
Agree with Noin that during the battle more info is not appropriate.
Although OP numbers continue to be an item promoting debate and obviuos interest not sure about taking preciuos Dev time on it just yet.

Aye, a little list on the OP screen with who picked what (attack/defend/neutral) would be nice to see. (but only if it is not much much trouble to make)
And for the info during the battle, it would be silly to show the attack /defend ratio, if you want info, scout. Removing the /who would be a good start imo. If I want to see who is in a region I have to run around in it. not pull up a list of who singed in... It spoils the imersion.
