Actually most people who start with a bad character namethen get hooked nearly always stick with the bad name rather than re-do it, check the names in any other major mmorpg for proof lol.

It is a lack of respect really, if someone can't be bothered taking the time to make a character on a game with a naming policy (its fine on ones without to some extent) thats just about decent it just makes me think no one respects ryzoms rules and the effort the community has gone to in themselves to not have stupid names about.

It's almost as annoying as every mong in the universe comparing this game to wow (like wow was the first mmorpg ever made and isnt 100% derivative of a thousand mmorpgs that came beore it) in universe chat.

Oddly enough it's usually the people with the stupid names doing that hmm.. connection...

I would recommend that if you think a name is in breach of the naming policy then you should definitely report it (assuming we haven't seen them already). These are not ignored and will always be acted on, regardless of how busy things get.

If the name isn't offensive, let it roll... It's very easy to spot those you don't want in your guild based on name alone. Naming is the first litmus test for a young homin

I must admit my one Alt who now owns a GH half full of sparkly mats is very very poorly named. It was in a bit of a fit of rage that he was named. For those that were around at the time and know the story it is amusing to see him pop in from time to time. For the rest of the folks out there, they probably just think that I am a jerk for naming my toon that.

Oh well, he only pops up every once in a while. Guess I could banish him to the deep roots for no one ever to see again.

I agree with DT in this. Naming your toon XXXulaniXXX or XXXscarletXXX (or worse) annoys me, but as it isnt offensive, I just think the player wasn't near when they handed out brains...

Names are part of the character...for those with 'inapropiate' names I regard them as power levellers who have no desire to make a 'personal connection' with the coloured pixels in front of them.
A Majority of these players will not leave the start island...(now known as free ryzom). There will always be players who regret the choice of name they made, but this only applies to those who stay of course.
Personally I will not send a tell to anyone with an 'unusual' name, but I will talk in spatial chat with anyone.

I'm the least rp guy you can find but the names do get on my... nerves.

Some names do lower the quality of the game and the community by their existance I remember spending several hours downloading on a modem, thinking and investigating various sources before chosing my name I just with others would spend 30 seconds considering theirs and the affect it jas on peoples opinions of them. Not to be harsh but I haven't got 10 seconds to help or even talk to people with really stupid names.

Totally agree with what you've said 100%. I saw something like "namingishard" the other day and it instantly made me think "ignore" along with another word that I can't post here cos it breaks forum rules lol.

I find it annoying but then I think Run's used to annoying me by now
