Think of it this way, while the members of an OP-owning Guild are defending their OP, the non-PvP players can just happily go about in their leveling. An OP battle easily takes 3 to 4 hours off your game time with preparations and showing up early and all that. Meanwhile, the non-PvPer merrily digs along, getting xp and grind mats (whether it be digging or hunting). The PvPer on the other hand, is left with no XP or grind mats. To make up for this, they get crystals to speed up their leveling a bit.
Not to mention, OP battles don't always go easily, and frustration might run high, whereas a digging/hunting player merely has to deal with troubles finding the right mob etc., and some DP in the worst case.
Something for nothing doesn't exist. If you want crystals, do something for it. Atm this is limited to PvP, which is unfortunate for those who don't like PvP, but if it's all you have, take it or leave it. Completely up to the player. Don't like PvP? Rely on other people being generous. Like PvP? Get suited for battle!
So in short: to me, it's a reward. Everyone has the right to cats, but only those who work for them shall be rewarded with them.

Just for general interest, cats can be valued in terms of grind mats for the purpose of raising crafting xp.
Each catalyst allows one to boost xp of 100, so a stack of 999 = 99,900 xp.
Each crafting action produces xp by the formula:
xp = q2/q1 x (100 + 4(q1 - L)) x M
q2 = q of crafted item
q1 = q of crafting action
L = crafting level
M = number of mats
this formula maxes out at 300 xp per mat if overcrafting 50 levels.
The mimimum value of a single mat (unless undercrafting) is 104 xp and the maximum is 300 xp.
So depending on q1 and q2, the value in xp of at stack of crystals varies from a high of 956 mats to a low of 333 mats. So it seems the most efficient use of limited crystals for crafting is to push your highest level up, rather than using them in overcrafting.
Of course, I have neglected the costs of the mats and crafted items, the time spent obtaining crystals and the time spent being killed by Fijoo.

why should I then be sharing my well earned reward
Out of pure kindness and generosity.
For me, there is no greater fulfillment than sharing whatever I am able to. And to be honest, I cannot understand why everyone doesn't feel the same way.

It all falls back to individuals choices... The OP's message is getting buried in the same old stuff from the same old people, but his points are valid.
We have individuals in Melinoe that do not PvP as is their choice, but they represent our goals in many other ways and share in our rewards as well. You can be a non-PvPer and own an OP and get a share of Experience Catalysers. The individuals you choose to join in with may not play the same way as you, but still be the place/people you want to be with when you log in daily. PvP can be a dividing line on many things, but not on friendships...
Each and every one of us make gameplay choices as we see fit, whether it is leveling skills or being the best talker in the local IG pub. These XP cats are not the golden egg, but they are a fair return on your investment. We have to maintain these OP's thru the long nights waiting for enemy that never show or fighting against kids that cannot even spell correctly the things they shouldn't be calling you in region chat.
Reward without risk should never be encouraged...
