I recognize the importance for being in a good guild. And, that guilds have made Faction choices of their own.
If a player is of a different faction than his guild is that a problem? How does the individual player choice of Faction effect the guild interaction, and how does the guild Faction effect the player?
As a Matis, my first, but uneducated, impulse is to go Neutral. Is this a big mistake, or a viable choice?

If your guild is Karavan, you
must be neutral or Karavan. Same with Kami. If your guild is neutral, you
must be neutral.
Whether it's a mistake to go neutral is your decision, but take a long look at your TP choices as well as how much PvP you are interested in before committing to any decision.

Still makes no sense to me that a Neutral guild can't accept people (moderates I would think) from both sides. Just seems like another needless smack in the chops for neutrals.

I play neutral in a kara guild. I do not mind at all, neither does the guild. The individually of the members is accepted.
For me neutral is the choice, and not having access to pr tp's is no big thing, I just sneak from Nexus into Elusive Forest, when I want to...

Not every Christian is a member of the inquisition are they?
There are moderates on both sides that pay lip service to their 'gods' but can get on with others. There's really no reason for them to be excluded (possibly game mechanics reasons?)

Just for fun.
Last I checked human history does not equal homin history. I think the homin story is resoundingly clear to support the fact that both factions are extremes.

Not really, no.
Jena used to be considered a high kami, for example.
Zorai went through a religious upheaval.
Both Fyros and Tryker are described as having a more moderate and 'practical' religious stance.
And so on and so forth.
Not everyone need be a raving fanatic.

I said the factions are extremes, not the homins.
You argument plays to mine and vice versa. Moderate folks and serious extremists don't mix well generally.
Raving fanatics can be fairly entertaining.
