I am probably as biased as someone can be and still be paying for SoR... Not having seen your other game choice, go with the game that brings you the most enjoyment.

All the "this game is great" info already posted here MAY be true... consider also that it is not the game that is shown in past documentation, interviews or previews... The level caps and world have not been increased since release and some of us have not been able to increase skills for well over a year (I got my first Master skill on Wed Mar 09, 2005). In a few days it will be the one year anniversary of my third Master skill (before XP Cats) without a chance to better myself.

The CSR team does work to make this a great place, but it's about the people. Maybe one day SoR will be the game it should have been... now we're making due with what it is. If you can find folks you like IG to play with, it's easy to ignore to the nonsensical dumbed down fame/faction/politics as so few have actually comitted to anything. This is not the game to play if you want to play a role IG and/or stand-out in anything other than a popularity contest or fashion show (aka. popularity contest). This is a game where you can feel comfortable because of those you spend your time with.

For a new player there is much to see and do... avoid folks powerleveling you as you will not have enough chances to stop and smell the roses. The discovery of things is truly the diamond in the rough with SoR. As stated I am very biased as I have been here since beta, but I do remember everything about how awesome finding things for the first time was (Many I have posted in the many guides and info posts on our site)... Unless you have "been there, done that" in SoR... I cannot see another game giving a similar sense of discovery in a game that is designed along the same gameplay lines.

[Heavily edited, first draft was the cynic in me and made me wonder why I am still here]

OT

Why do people seem to desire an increase in the level cap? That doesn't actually solve any problem, it just delays it for another (50+) levels. The aim of an RPG isn't (or shouldn't be) to be the most 'uber'. There's plenty of goals besides levelling and there IS plenty of opportunity to stand out here, something you don't get in a standard repeat-a-quest MMO.

Mayb after power leveling we realised part of that game is practically dead to us now, like, Nothing more to be gained from working a Skill. or... Mayb cause we can get Q270 mats mayb we want to make Q270 items, mayb cause a Cap raise will mean more content, ie... new lands, new creatures, new mats, new stanza's.

What you think will happen when most ppl are 250? they will stay in this game to sit around and talk?, i dont think that will happen, do you?

Oh yeah, back on topic, play whateva you find the most fun.

not the player lvl cap needs to be increased, but mob lvl's need increasing... like lvl 300 area, but player lvl cap is still 250.
... and then rewards to compensate and to give lvl 250 players a reason to go out there (like digging/killing for unlimited amount of sup mats ;-)

nice idea, but not so good for non-crafters,
i would still recommend the lvl cap be raised, however i think things like XP Cats should stop @ 250, and not be allowed after that lvl (i say this cause if the cap was raised i know the Dev's would implement lvl 300 cats).
